Man...I can't get enough of these videos. You guys out west had the luxury of having some sort of cannabis culture--clandestine as it was. Those of us from the east coast have been in the shadows all alone. It wasn't always easy to discern whether you were fighting the fight all by yourself because most of us...hell, the only professional grower we knew was our self! The forums were the only thing that kept me, personally, motivated to keep pushing forward. When I got busted 8 years ago--mere months before my state passed medical--videos such as these were just beginning to show up on the internet. And now look! We're winning the fight, boys and girls. Blaze on!

Great conversation. Long-time grower, experienced plant biologist-never dabbled in breeding-why? a very big conversation; this project is always focusing on that conundrum- thank you

I think that having both levels of breeders is a good thing. Both who make a cross and release an "F1" and those that do multiple grows to stabilize phenotype variation before even thinking about a possible release. Almost Dutch versus US breeding. Most decent US breeders aren't even growing out 100 plants of their new "cross" but release it to customers who find the benefit of the pheno variation of it compared to consumers of a very stable genetic in a hydro Dutch farm that just want to dial in on a fast 52 day flower indica that is still selling in coffeeshops. 2 different mindsets (many others of course) to consider when thinking about seed buyers.

Ive grown bagseed that is exactly what theyre talking about. Its always been the second type of hermaphrodite where stress creates it. The weed is still strong as hell of the varieties you got them from though the buds tend to get weird shapes. My fav was a Congo strain, took 12-13 weeks to finish, long sativa buds. But yea, best if the plants don't hermie at all. Free seeds is one thing but lots of breeders are super amateurish when it comes to this and don't offer recompense when you show them all 3 seeds/plants turning hermie while your other strains are fine.

The original stable crosses that I grew in the 80,s and 90,s have been crossed with early maturing stains. This did nothing to improve quality but it shortened to flowering time. There is a Bible of growing Cannabis that explains how to grow stable hybrids. Back crossing to establish a stable hybrid and more. No one mentions Delta 4 , 6 and Delta 9 THC. What about THCV? How about CBA CBN , CBG ? Read Marijuana Botany.

You know what, these people go on about finding the best strain etc. From my experience, we have about as good as it needs to be. We have a huge range of flavours, with great resistance and growing attributes. All you've got to do is grow them in a controlled enviroment with a really nice organic soil, water and treat occasionally with the right nutrients and then dry using a time honed process. Going beyond this is just excessive. Or more likely just marketing hype.

sorry when you said there in no true breeding strain you are wrong ... Abducted 1399 is ....just because the strain has not been made public from when it was found in 1969 that dose not mean it was like the rest of the greed growers and breeders that destroy the genetic pole ... Abducted 1399 is the most stable and strong IBL OLR on the face of the Earth .....when someone like Humboldt comes out and says something like this , I know why don't release the strain to the market .. the market don't need rare strains they are to fast to take the path of the mighty buck .... latter

Landrace cannabis is not feral cannabis. Landrace cannabis has been selected for various qualities by growers for centuries. Not 'selected by nature'. Growers who should be compensated for their Intellectual Property (IP).

In my experience , heat is critical in Hermaphrodite equation. My grows in fall and winter never show male but when temperatures and humidity change stamens can appear. As much as the seeds reduced harvest. I have hundreds of seeds to flower for years. Not worth breeding thou..

well i guess dudes wrong about the diecious nature of cannabis. BC cannabis can become a hermaphrodite at any stage of development. I dont know about the drawbacks of a plant breading with itself, but my guess is that it can be beneficial for plant. Their reproduction is far different from mammals, so inbreeding might actually be beneficial in plant species. Besides, if you look at cannabis and plants for that matter is general, branches seem to be their own living organisms which can grow just like the whole, so having male and female parts on the same plant seems quite natural.

I’m sorry, but the younger guy on the left is unbelievable, he literally gets upset over a term like genetic drift. Who pays that guy? He is literally the equivalent of a geneticist at humboldt seed company and doesn’t know what a term like genetic drift is? Here again he’s talking about genetics at an phd level and barely knows what a genotype is? Not saying fire him, but guy, use that good money to get informed, because how many of their strains are just whatever because he says?

Correction, the man I am writing about is not a geneticist at Humboldt seed.

19:50 i like how right after down talking another grower, he slips up and says having all female plants is the worst lol. Instant karma at its finest. Im sure that other grower who made the post had a brain fart just like him. An old time grower once told me, "it doesnt matter how big you get, mother natures bigger" stay humble.
@jaggedbrain4 жыл бұрын
he was joking, and most crosses with a herm will come out female but with hermaphroditic tendancies,
