Hey Woody and Gus This is from the dive team friends at Bonne Terre mines ( Amanda, Steve, Gavin and *Rob*) We really enjoyed having you guys at the mine, gave us an excuse to break out our rebreathers and do some fun long dives. We are usually on open circuit for our regular dive trails so this was a nice change of pace for us. For me especially, it gave the opportunity to meet and dive with the awesome Mike Young ( you guys were good but let’s face it we poor mortals can only aspire to the skill of a Mike Young ) Let’s us know when you want to come back with DPV’s. There truly is so much to see, the place is just massive. I’ve been diving at Bonne Terre since 2005, and very regularly since 2015 and I only feel like I’m just now starting to figure the place out. You really have to keep in mind this is a mine not a cave. Although the skills you hone in cave training come into action some of the automatic assumed notions of how things fit together in a cave don’t translate to mines especially regarding directions. The mine can be very disorienting and without proper site specific training it’s way to easy to get yourself in serious trouble. Look forward to diving with you guys in the future 🙂🤿

@@DIVETALK Hi I hope you see this: A channel called "Jiggin With Jordan" purchased a personal submarine that is essentially a large SCUBA system. He doesn't know how to fix it and is crowdsourcing his procedures. I thought you might be able to give him some good advice. The first video regarding the submarine shows the inside and where all the SCUBA tanks go and how it just uses a large air bubble for ballast. See ya guys! Love your channel.

Truly enjoyed reading this comment! I have never been cave diving (let alone in a mine) but watching this video and seeing how professionally and safe this was all conducted really gave me hope that one day I could aspire to do the same. Not to mention how much FUN you guys all had! Just want to give a big thanks to DIVE TALK and all the people at Bonne Terre mines for giving me inspiration to pursue diving further! Much respect from a young South African diver!

@@anacorreia8058 Seems like it might be normal, honestly I'd stick with the training.. me and my brother ran into a lot of ego as well, so much o we ended up going at night time by ourselves, to ensure we wouldn't be stopped for being short of perfection. Yes we had some close calls, yes cave guides are waaaay over priced. I like survival and cross country hiking.. working on being an asset for our local Fire & Rescue. I think I could also run a cave guide in our caves offering £60($70) tours, £500 is just insane.

@@anacorreia8058 Oh our biggest gripe was the pro's telling us the cave was also super easy with picture of children just running loose.. honestly I wouldn't take my 4 year old in there at all. A flooded mine would be one of my dream dives. My hometown has a lot of old flooded mine shafts but I’m unsure as to whether they’re accessible to divers. Need to pick my local dive club’s brains on that one. It would genuinely make me so happy as a diver if I could get into some of the tunnels my grandfather, a former miner, used to dig.

Guys- out of all the videos on your channel- this is the most interesting and engaging. Really well done- all of it. Seeing all that old mine infrastructure and the tools they used was really cool. Watching you guys dive is amazing- the trim is really precise; the way you frog kick along so gracefully and never stir anything up (well, almost never)- really cool to watch. And of course, watching Mike is like watching underwater ballet- I think that dude has gills. Of all the ppl I've met on you guy's show, him and Ed are the most impressive to me. If you guys go back- film it, trust me- you want more of this on your channel.

I believe this is crucial to better yourself for the future and for all the viewers too see and learn from. Thanks Gus & Woody

Thank you for that...we understand that we've made choices opposite of most scuba diving channels here on KZbin where everyone works hard on only "showing perfection" and would never dare to post anything that makes them look less than perfect. We are the opposite, we know we are not perfect, and we love showing that. We want people to know that we make mistakes and most importantly that we learn from them. Those who only want to see perfection can go and watch other channels because we feel it is more compelling to show the times we struggled and what we do to overcome it.

I have often wondered what it would be like to walk around in the open air wearing a giant bubble that only let you see 10 or 20 ft in any direction. We take for granted how much we use long line of sight to orient ourself and choose which way to go.

I'm absolutely loving this! I just found your channel a few months ago and loving that you take us on your journeys! Another channel that I've been watching about a year or so is called Abandoned and Forgotten Places, a guy named Gly explores old Abandoned mines, dry, so to see you here is like combining the two channels together! Btw from watching Gly's channel - the "big rooms" in a mine are called ballrooms and the "holes going down" can be a few things, a winz (probably spelled that wrong) a shaft/man way, or an Ore pass 😁 Thank you again for this video!

Started watching for the reactions, but videos like these are my favorite content you make now. Gus and Woody you guys are so naturally comfortable and funny together, and it really makes videos like these work. More please! :)

Guys this is amazing! Old mines are a passion of mine and this is now a full on life goal to do this myself! I've been in tonnes of abandoned mines but this is another level!

This place looks amazing. There is something about flooded mines that is super fascinating to me. Great footage! 👍🏻❤

I'm pretty sure, I won ... years ago! I've done dives here in my wet suit days (wish I had my drysuit in those days). Did it in October, '92 with a group from a dive store. Well worth the drive from Toronto.

Oh my god this is the second "real life" video I have watched from you guys and I really love the content. Usually I can never focus on such a long video, but Woodys sense of humor really makes it. And Gus's reactions to the jokes of course

Although Neil Young is primarily a folk singer, there was a period where he experimented with country. So Gus, you weren't 100% wrong.

So 😎 cool, not a cave diver and never will be but do enjoy watching it. My blood pressure would definitely be lower with you guys and Mike with me on the dive. Amanda and the crew were great!

Have fun. How amazing witnessing a part of history that most of us wouldn't know was buried underground underwater. And yes I Love trains I come from Philadelphia and I rode the train everywhere even took a train from Philly to Florida I'm a train nut.. I just think it's so cool that you guys can do that
