I randomly came across this channel recently. My father passed away nearly two years ago and he was a commercial diver. He would tell me many stories of his divivig experences, non of which I could relate to but they were very interesting. He had seen it all, came close to death many times but he love his job. It's like another world down there. It takes a ceritn type of individual to venture into the deep and miss listening to my dad's stories so I decided to subscribe to this channel. Thanks for making this channel as it gives me a way to somehow continue to appreciate the unique experences divers have. I can't explain how much I wish I could spend just one more day with my father, so many questions I still have regarding diving. Thank you for the opportunity to subscribe.

I really liked that figurine portion at the end. That was super sentimental gesture Gus! It's clear you guys are more than just friends for show. And man Woody! You have an excellent way of communicating your appreciation dude! I'm not very good at expressing myself like that but I would like to be. I learned more about supporting the people around me from this video than I did about diving. Thank you guys for sharing your experiences 🤘

I want to know the story of Gus and Woody. How you met and how and why you became a team. I'm amazed sometimes at how well Gus takes Woody's teasing. I've been watching for a while and almost caught up and I knew that Woody wasn't going to let Gus's success go by without his getting this done too.

One of the many, many reasons I love your channel is the way you present yourself. Humble, honest. Had a very humbling experience myself a few weeks ago too when I did two intro dives with two types of rebreathers. The first dive was sooooooo extremely bad....! I felt like a new diver, even though I have been diving for 14 years.... You guys talked about the theory on your channel so many times already, with the counterlung, your own lung and how it affects (or better said how your breathing does NOT affect bouyancy while diving with a ccr) bouyancy. I crawled across the floor all the time on my first dive and learnt that I had always been correcting my bouyancy with my own lungs ALLLLLLL the time....! I felt so bad that I told both the instructor (who will also be my cave instructor end 2022, or beginning 2023) and my dive buddy that I would not do the second dive. I felt like I was holding them back too much. Ultimately they both convinced me to do my second ccr dive and that dive went smooth as butter and I greatly enjoyed it. This is one pf the many things I am thankful for to you and your channel. Before I got to know your channel I was merely interested in seeing the fish under water. Now I still am, but now learning so many (technical) skills and truly improving my skills and diving proficiency! It's an awesome experience and feeling and want to thank you (again!) for this inspiration!!!! Safe diving, happy new year and looking forward to all your new adventures in 2022 and beyond! 🍌🐙👽👌

Great stories guys, I listened to every word, even backed up if I missed something. I felt like I was there going through the training. Thanks for not cutting it. When I saw it was over an hour, I was like wow, ok, here we go, but I loved every minute of it. At any rate, I almost shed a tear when Woody told the story of Edd telling him he was proud of him. Wow, you guys really have my respect for knowing what you want in life and going for it and not giving up. I 100% agree, most things in life that are truly rewarding are sometimes the most difficult to achieve. If it was easy, anyone could do it. Also, that diving model of Woody is just amazing, well done Gus.

What an amazing channel this is, the content, the hosting, the honesty, the humbleness, and the willingness to educate and inspire are incredible. Like many of the viewers here, I cannot keep myself from binge-watching these videos, and the podcasts on Spotify. I almost never comment on youtube but I couldn't keep myself from expressing the gratitude I feel towards you two, and people like you. This video regarding the dpv classes simply encompasses what this channel is about (in my opinion), the other videos are great, very entertaining, and educational, but this one stands out in a way. The hour and 14 minutes flew by and the genuine and honest narration (on top of the amazing stories) had me glued to the screen. Keep on being you Gus and Woody, your personalities are golden, and infectious in the best of ways. Thank you.

I'm only at 39 minutes in and I need to congratulate Gus for getting his DPV licence. Kind of an amazing story. Nothing legendary but impressive none the less. I watch content out of order on this channel I'm pretty sure I was already aware that Gus had this licence but without knowing the back story etc. I love this channel so much. I'm no diver but I am a trained swimmer with lifeguard training or certification. I don't believe I was technically a certified lifeguard. But I passed all the swimming lessons, the rescue stuff, first aid, I was basically at the point were I would be at a pool or beach shadowing actual lifeguards. I was given a list of places I could be assigned to shadow lifeguards etc. I needed a certain amount of hours with them. But that's when I quit. That was almost 20 years ago that I took 5 years worth of swimming lessons etc. I never actually became a full on lifeguard though as the actual thought of having peoples lives depend on me is not what made me take the lessons. I wanted the skills not the career. It was more of a hobby. Peoples lives relying on me is just not my gig. Even if it was no fault of my own and a life was lost I would take it hard. So it's not for me. But I can respect how much work goes into diving since it would far outweigh my lifeguard training.

Nice neighborhood! Those houses look pretty nice! Is that your vinyl wrapped Tesla? Looks good! I really enjoy your channel. I've been learning all about cave diving for years and watching your channel is motivating me to go begin the training process and get on with my dreams! I've been waiting for too long and it's time to stop living vicariously through others! I want to share a few thoughts. I sense there are lots of parallels between diving and skydiving (I completed Accelerated Free Fall Training and I am working on my A License). I love the process of training your mind and body to operate in stressful situations. Learning how to control your body while falling and perfecting maneuvers like spins, flips, barrel rolls, etc, Understanding the mechanics of a ram air canopy and setting up a landing pattern which involves a downwind leg, cross wind leg, and finally landing into the wind to slow down your air speed. Performing tons of drills for potential malfunctions such as cutting away from your main canopy and deploying your reserve canopy. Both diving and skydiving appeal to me because you are using technology and mastery of your body to cheat death in a sense. Both require lots of training and practice and you will undoubtedly perish if you lack either. The feeling of pushing your mind and body and accomplishing something that many people will never experience. Congrats to both of you. I hope to someday cross paths with you and perhaps dive in a few caves together! Thanks for the great content! You just earned another subscriber!

Hey! Congratulations on passing your AFF! A licence next and right onto B!!! I am also a Skydiver (USPA coach just shy of 500 jumps). I can totally relate on what you describing. Very similar sport although in very different environments. My feeling is that in both, we're not supposed to be there! We use gear and technology in order to "survive" in those environments that we are not designed to be in right? The gears are somewhat similar but the mindset, body control, dedication, safety and sense of adventure definitely are a common denominators to both sports. I believe being a good diver makes me a better skydiver and being a better skydiver makes me an excellent diver😁 Keep sending it! Whenever you're in North Florida give le a shout, either to jump out an airplane or get in caves! Blue sky bud!!
