Super cool! I've seen a research paper in the past that used an underwater 3d model to do better color correction. Using the 3d model, you know how far away objects are, thus you can figure out how much red light was absorbed. That way you can make the picture look as if all of the water was removed. What are you plans for 3d scanning underwater? Any particular use case / application that you have in mind?

Thanks enotkvit! Actually, I haven't heard about using such modeling for color correction. That might be fun to look into. :-) As for other usage plans, I don't have anything concrete at the moment. I suppose the first project will be to map out a full dive site. It seems ambitious and I still have the monthly Best of... videos and The Shore Dive Collection videos I still want to do; so we'll see. I will definitely keep playing around though. Please share if you get an opportunity to try it out. I would love to see other projects as well.
