Macedon's Agema short pikes are absolutely devastating. Even when not in phalanx, they decimate both heavy infantry and cavalry alike. Their only real weakness (apart from missile cavalry) seems to be long pikes.

Yeah, they lose to longer pikes, I saw it a few days ago in a multiplayer match.

In regards to what you said about skirmishers, I don't agree. I used to play mostly with heavy infantry factions and tactics but now I have switched to lighter factions, and units such as Numidian and Dacian Heavy Skirmishers are amongst my favourites. I use the bigger battlefields mod so I have plenty of room to maneuver, and with these units you can hit and run. With some spears and cavalry around to protect them from cavalry, they're devastating, and they do decently in melee.

Skirmisher or horse-heavy factions tend to require more skill, they are more micro-intensive.

@@hetmanRTS yeah, exactly. Now that I am a decent player I can play using that strategy. Still, I came up with a battle formation that helps me. I also changed the default camera getting into the scripts file, so now I can have an eagle-like view of the battlefield and move the units.

If u dobbel click the pike Units on a enemy They will push forward with the pikes down

That's useful. In the first battle I didn't want to break the formation.

Legendary in DEI is insane, normal here is like very hard in vanilla.
