I hope mum and baby are good. Dad said it took him 5 years before he got back in the workshop after I was born :-) I really enjoyed the video, thanks

Oh yes, more brass swarf. No matter how hard you try, it still gets everywhere. Like sand on a beach. Best wishes for an imminent safe arrival. 👏👏👍😀 Andrew

Awww another mention on your great channel, thank you. Like you I'm finding time to film rather limited at the moment, and I have no idea when I'll get the next one out. If we don't see you before, best wishes to you, Mum and Baby, and we look forward to the next instalment in the workshop. Stay safe, all the best, Laters, Matt

Here's a couple of tips to centre parts on the mill when there is not enough height. I have the same issue. Put a centre in the spindle and don't clamp the work down. Lower the centre to the job and it will centre in the hole. Then tighten the work holding clamps. If the centre finder is too long use a sticky pin. A dress making pin and a blob of modelling clay or blue tac on the spindle works just as well

Nice work William. I use the wife’s hoover to get rid of all the brass swarf it works a treat, I just have to remember to empty it before I put it back.

The end of this movie was perfect.

Nice one again! You could probably do without the depth gage for centering. The top of the calipers is usually ground to match so that gives a nice surface for a depth measurement with the back part resting on the edge and the front to the drill shaft

What Size is your extension block on your Centec? Something that I need to look at
@williamsworkshopuk2 жыл бұрын
I think it rises up at 4 inches - happily, you can use the Centec itself to cut the riser if you have the right cutters for the horizontal arm!

Put baby in a carrier. Wait a few month and get some baby earmuffs once their skull is up to it. Do all your machining when they are asleep inside the house. Organize all your quiet/hand tool/safer jobs to do when you have them out there with you in the carrier. I tapped the cylinders for a 4-6-0 with my eldest daughter in a carrier when she was maybe 3 months old? No broken taps either…

Thanks very much Lauren, that’s very kind. I already have a rotary table so no need to worry yourself about that! Good luck in finding the equipment you need, and thank you for the story about Lord Lacelle!
