Grace is unmerited favor.
@LaboKariuki3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for addressing a topic the even we Christians find a little confusing. In Christianity, grace is defined as unmerited favor. It costs the receiver nothing, but is priceless to God. Paul, in Romans, contrasts grace to works. If work is involved, such as prayer, fasting, giving alms, then payment , forgiveness or entry into paradise , is wages-a merited right, and not grace. The opposite of grace is works.Yahweh established a principle from creation that every soul that sins shall die. As Yahweh is the same yesterday, today and forever, my life is still required for my sin. In the Old Testament, the life of an animal, through sacrifice, was forfeit for sin. In the new testament, Christ, being sinless, took on the sin of the world, and paid for it all by laying down his life, once and for all time. Once we receive this gift, through grace, then we are saved, and the principle still holds as Yahweh does not change. We remain human, and thus prone to sin, but Christ's sacrifice covers all our sins.

I feel like the focus of predestination in Islam vs. Modern Western Protestant Christianity is different too. I feel like there is very little fear of God in the latter, and thus less balance. Once you introduce this idea of someone dying for ones sins, humility seems to go out the window. I've heard many Christians even condemn the fear of God.

Hi Mekhi. When Christians speak of the fear of God, they do not mean terror, but respectful reverence. Yahweh is our father, and we trust and respect him. We know he has reasons we cannot understand for guiding us the way he does, and we seek to know and obey him. But when we disobey, are hurt or broken, we can still approach him for comfort. He is like a father who comforts a child who has been hurt after disobeying him. We are forgiven , yes, but also loved.

When Peter said “Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” Acts 10:34-35 He was having a personal revelation that the gospel of Jesus was for gentiles as well as Jews as he had just had a miraculous encounter with Cornelius(a Roman) who then is later anointed by the Holy Spirit (him and the other gentiles there) and is baptised after accepting Peter’s testimony about Jesus. So fear of God here and doing what is right is actually about accepting Jesus.

1-The principle in everything is justice. God loves His servants, and the evidence for that is He bestowed upon us many blessings that cannot be counted Such as sight, hearing, wellness, family, and others. The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, told that God is more merciful to people than the mercy of a mother to her child 2- Fearing God and hoping for His mercy is the basis of all righteous people, and there are many examples in your books that bear witness to my words. There are people who disobey God and are deceived. By not being punished, they thought that he loved them no matter what happened, and this is a mistake. Also, there are people who fear God a lot and think bad that God will not have mercy on them, and this is also a mistake. 3- God Almighty wants the servant to strive and struggle in his life until he becomes the best version of himself and does good deeds and stays away from evil And if he did a bad deed and repented, he would find God Forgiving, Merciful

They will call the dwellers of Paradise: "Peace be upon you." They did not enter Paradise, although they were wishful to go through! 7:47 (The Purgatory) And then, when they turn their eyes towards the dwellers of Hell, they will say, "Our “LORD”, do not put us with these wicked people please." * Being a polytheist and in the majority will not help you! According Christianity, Isa al-Masih slain in the way of Allah, and Aleazar(Lazarus) was allowed to died for the glory of Allah. Then after Aleazar died, Isa al-Masih referred Aleazar as sleeping. Then Isa al-Masih woke Aleazar up from his four day "nap". Also, note that Isa al-Masih is called the Lamb of Allah in al-Injil, because he was given by Allah to mankind as sin offering, but more importantly his suffering is a guidance, sent down to teach us to forgive others their trespasses against us, just as Allah forgives us our trespasses against Him. 'And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive it not.' - Quran 2:154 Under the Law, the wages of sin is death, yet the gift of Allah is eternal life by His grace. But if humans sin, and wages thereof is death, the logically gift of Allah must be a death of a perfect sin offering, and only Isa al-Masih could do this as no bearer of burden can bear the burdens of another, but Isa al-Masih had no burden of his own, and thus chose to bear ours.

Thanks Haris for your explanation. Two points though. Jesus Christ is a historical figure while Isa is not. We know when Jesus was born, where it happened and who his siblings were.(James and Jude). The four gospels, Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, give us a lot of information that allows us to determine this. We also have secular sources, Jewish and Roman, that confirm the gospel accounts. We don't have anything similar about Isa. Secondly, while Yahweh requires a sacrifice due to the principle that the soul that sins shall die, we don't see a corresponding requirement for Allah. Allah can chose to forgive or not, hence a sacrifice is not necessary. For Yahweh, death is the atonement for sin, animals in the Old Testament, and Jesus Christ in the New Testament. What do you think?
@idris_haris_al-kalima3 жыл бұрын
@@LaboKariuki Note that I believe in both the Holy Bible and the Noble Quran. While it is 100% true that Allah CAN chose to forgive or not, BUT we can't expect to be forgive, for example if you commit a terrible crime, the king might forgive; HOWEVER, a commoner or even a noble shouldn't bet on being forgiven freely, SOMEONE has to pay the price. If the king freely pardons criminals would you trust that king? I could NOT trust such a king, however if the innocent crowned prince suffered in place of a criminal, the king would pardon the criminal because of the righteousness of the crowned prince. And the criminal would in turn try and hopefully reform his way of life. Salvation is a free gift, but will it costs you everything. For example, if I freely give you a ticket to go see a movie, it would still cost something to go the movie theater, but can't say that the ticket was not a free gift. Also, the Blessed Virgin Mariam had no other children, otherwise al-Rasul Yuhana(the Apostle John) would not have been told to look after the Blessed Virgin Mariam; rather Yaqub(James) and Yahudha(Jude) are most likely the sons of Yusuf al-Najjar(Joseph the Carpenter).
@LaboKariuki3 жыл бұрын
@@idris_haris_al-kalima Excellent! I totally agree with you that if there is no punishment for crimes then people would not trust the king. He would not be just. Now put God in that place. He has decreed that every soul that sins shall die. I am not only guilty, but I have been convicted as well!. What does the king do now? How and why does the crown prince come in? Hence Jesus of Nazareth. Being perfect, he had no sin and can serve as the sacrificial lamb the world. Regarding grace, you do not have to do anything to deserve a gift. For example, if you enter a lottery, it is not a gift, but a prize. Once you accept the gift, and it is yours, then it may place obligations on you. If I gave you a car as a gift, you would still have to register it in your name, insure it etc, but only after you receive it. Hence the Christian concept of grace. Once we receive the gift of salvation, then works flow out as a consequence. We pray, give, and do good works because we are forgiven, not to be forgiven. When Jesus of Nazareth was crucified, he entrusted his mother to John as all the others died early. John wrote the book of Revelations about AD 90 and is the last of the disciples to die. Could you expound on Yusuf and his sons, and their relationship, if any, to Isa?
@idris_haris_al-kalima3 жыл бұрын
@@LaboKariuki Mariam being married to Yusuf means that his sons are the step-siblings of Isa al-Masih. But interestingly Isa al-Masih not having an earthly father means that Isa al-Masih is not of begotten of the tribe of Yahudha(Judah), and an-Nasira(Nazareth) was a city of Jewish scions, in others it was a city connected to the house of Yishay; this means if Mariam lived in an-Nasira, then her father was begotten of the tribe of Yahudha, even begotten of the royal house of Dawud(David). Therefore Isa al-Masih would have been the only one of "born" of the house of Dawud, as tribe and therefore one's house is only inherited through the father's line, but in the case of a virgin born child, then it can be inherited through his mother. Interesting in Judaism, Holy Spirit/the Spirit of God is female, not male. (Note: the Greek word for Spirit is a neuter noun.) If the Spirit was female or male in Greek then Isa al-Masih would have be called "the Son of the Holy Spirit," rather than "the Son of the God;" but because Spirit is neuter in Greek, Isa al-Masih must be called "the Son of the God" in Greek; although. However, in Arabic, Ruh(Spirit) is a masculine noun, so in unlike Hebrew and Greek, thus in Arabic Isa could be called "ibn Ruh al-Qudus([the]Son of the Holy Spirit;" however, in Arabic, because believing in the virgin born is an act of faith, the Quran takes the identifier "ibn Mariam" from Mark 6:3. As Mariam is the only name of a parent of Isa al-Masih who everyone can agree on using as his identifier.

@@TheTruth-hc7ww Here since i see you don’t understand what the verse meant . "Here Jesus himself is called 'a spirit from God'. The same idea is also expressed elsewhere in the Qur'an: 'And We supported him with the spirit of holiness' (Surah al-Baqarah 2: 87). The import of both verses is that God endowed Jesus with a pure, impeccable soul. He was therefore an embodiment of truth, veracity, righteousness, and excellence. This is what the Christians had been told about him. But they exceeded the proper limits of veneration for Jesus. The 'spirit from God' became the 'spirit of God', and the 'spirit of holiness' was interpreted to mean God's own Spirit which became incarnate in Jesus. Thus, along with God and Jesus, there developed the third person of God - the Holy Ghost. It was this unjustified exaggeration which led the Christians to even greater error”
@khaderlander24293 жыл бұрын
@@TheTruth-hc7ww You like to read your own interpretation into the Quran. Quran 16:102 102 Say, “The Holy Spirit has brought it down from thy Lord in truth, to make firm those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings for those who submit.” 102 According to most commentators, the Holy Spirit here refers to the Archangel Gabriel, the angel of revelation (R); see also 2:87c; 2:253; 5:110. According to al-Rāzī, the abrogation of verses or rulings, mentioned in the previous verse, was a test for the believers; if they continued to accept the revelation as coming from God and trusted in His Wisdom, this would make firm those who believe, in that they would show themselves to be firm in their faith and the path of their religion.
