Great points Wayne. However you forgot to mention? Do a freedive course is the most important part of your spearfishing kit. All this knowledge is great. Then if your buddy blackouts , how do you recover your mate? Dive down release his weight belt release your weight belt ‘ get below your mate extended arms under the armpits you both float to the surface. No matter how hard you kick to surface you will not get up any quicker . Do a apnea course people

There is a specific technique for bringing up a diver who has blacked out. A specific way of holding the head and neck and keeping the jaw shut so no water gets into the mouth during the rescue ascent. You learn all of this during a freediving course, and also what to do on the surface. If a freediving course is 'too expensive', then how much is your life and your buddy's life worth? Less than the cost of a freediving course?
