In my youth of ( 17 yrs) I spent 6 weeks living off the Land on a beach in New England where I spearfished every day. Almost all of my cooking was done in the clam bake style of heated rocks and seaweed covered by a tarp. I found that it was really tricky getting enough rocks hot enough to fully cook the meal. Love the creativity and simplicity of this technique.definitely going to try it on a black sea bass next summer.thanks.

I have one you may want to try on a rainy day. Kalakeitto (fish soup) is a staple of Finland. It usually made with Salmon, potatoes,carrots, leeks and a bunch of butter and cream but fishing in Florida, I have made it with Cobia, snapper and several others. I'm sure you would love it.

Next step bro!! Do you need the stones? What stones are best...that don't explode?! Can you leverage cast iron to do the same thing? Fish chicken beef?! Seasonings....what to add and what to subtract?! I think you can change this to encompass all seafoods...shrimp, crab, mussels, clams, calamari.... I may do that. LOL....I am very demanding.... :P Love the video! Totally going to steal it...btw.
@CookingWithClams2 жыл бұрын
Since it was my first time I have no idea what stones would work better. I THINK you could recreate this on a med low flame on a stovetop. I wouldn’t change seasoning at all, it was so perfect. And yes to ANY protein, the traditional recipe is with chicken.

Having grown up on Okinawa and Hawaii, here goes! How to open a coconut if you don’t have a spike. You need a claw hammer, the largest flat head screwdriver you have, and a medium size Phillips head screwdriver. Use the hammer and the flat head screwdriver to remove the outer shell. Then use the Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer to puncture the three holes. Drain out the yummy coconut water. Then crack the inner shell in half with a hammer. Presto! Five minutes, tops.
@CookingWithClams2 жыл бұрын
That outer shell wasn’t going anywhere! It was crazy
