Gotta say, I loved the piece! I started with Discover, before upgrading to Core August 2022.

Was upgrading worth it? I’ve been thinking about upgrading for some time now
@CraigRodmellMusic
@CraigRodmellMusic 7 ай бұрын
@@TheIkgn That mostly depends on what you want to do with it. If all you want to do is add orchestral sounds to Rock tracks, then Discover is fine. However, if you wish to go deeper than that, and write and perform orchestral music, then upgrading to Core is an absolute must. That's what I got it for. I got it on a very substantial sale they had August 2022. Best money I ever spent on instruments! To me, it was absolutely worth it. It's like I have my own private orchestra, whose sole job is playing my music. What luxury! Here's a couple of recent examples of my own work using Core: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIioanaYgpWka80 and kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYTbh5VojKhnoLs. Cheers

I definitely whole heartedly recommend the discover series as a entree to orchestral composition ... it’s ideal for all sorts of budding composer ..superbly sampled and intelligently arrayed in the GUI.

Kindly make tutorials in BBCSOD for beginner composers because this library contains almost all the instruments used in a typical Symphony Orchestra and this can be downloaded and used by everyone who want to learn orchestration. This will also help in the growth of your channel. One more thing, you are an outstanding teacher. Regards from India 🙏

Hi, a lot of my videos contain libraries that are free including BBC Symphony. I try to include as many free libraries as possible when writing for a video as well as using paid libraries for those that are interested. Appreciate the comment, thank you!

Thank you Simon! This is awesome library and great your guide you provided. But how can I see all the instruments at the left bar? I installed the Reaper. But I think there is some general problem with that. I see only one, not named, not colored.

Great vids. Can you explain how to switch between the different articulations as you're composing? Thanks!
@BsktImp
@BsktImp Ай бұрын
I'm no expert, but I understand that you need to create different tracks in your DAW set up with the same instrument but different articulations. So it's not like a stave where you indicate articulations with symbols (. > ^ etc) and words (pizz., arco). Also I think the expression slider affects some articulations depending on the instrument, but I've not worked this out yet.
@jameseverett4976
@jameseverett4976 Ай бұрын
@@BsktImp so do you have to load a new instance of the plugin for every instrument and articulation? That seems a bit tedious, not to mention memory hogging. No key switches? Oh wait....I guess because it's free, it can't be practical or minimally functional. Then not enough people would buy the upgrade.
@BsktImp
@BsktImp Ай бұрын
@@jameseverett4976 As I said, I'm definitely a novice at DAWs, VSTIs & plugins. You're right about resources being hogged. OK I've just checked & tried and you CAN use key switches. For example with violins 1, C0 (4 octaves below middle C) = Long, C#0 = spiccato, D0 = pizzicato & D#0 = tremelo. The key switches are shown as green notes on the keyboard in the BBSCO Discover UI. If you need to change the starting range of the key switch notes click [hold] and slide the icon left or right, located near the 🔒icon. Maybe it's normal & you know this already, but I had trigger the switches a fraction ahead of the note for it to sound as intended. Also make sure the first note in the MIDI track/clip has its articulation set as the last used by the plugin 'hangs over' until it is changed.

As for me better to start from good library, and to have more articulation…subscribe for example Eastwest and get for 150$ per year thousands super quality Hollywood sounds… because every one who start play music was buy musical instrument minimum 300$ and more (my clarinet $4k) and here you have whole orchestra.., so it’s important to use more realistic sound and also listen more real orchestral music and always hold this sound in your brain. No matter you beginner or pro it’s important for all🙂 good luck 👍

Question, when you pick a cello for instance and only play one note at a time (Not a chord), is it just one cello you hear or does it play several at once? In other words, is there a way to play a cello solo without hearing several at once? Thanks!
@composingacademy8270
@composingacademy8270 Жыл бұрын
Hi, no if you just play one note at a time you will hear back numerous cellos so when you have a chord of three or more notes it can get unrealistic sometimes. I would advise downloading a library with solo string instruments such as Nucleus by Audio Imperia although this one is not free. Hope that helps!

@@composingacademy8270 The non free version of this orchestra also comes with solo instruments. The core version comes with solos for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, and tenor trombone. Upgrading to Pro gives you solos in violin 1 and 2, violas, celli, bass, bass flute, bass clarinet, contrabassoon, cor anglais, contrabass trombone, contrabass tuba, and cimbasso. The big upgrade to pro though is actually the mike positions, which go from 1 in the free and core versions to 20 in the pro.
