Probably random question but are there allowances made for disabled people who can't stand up and change their clothing or people who have lost a limb or were born without one and can't do all the tokens? How do they tell satan to be gone, etc?
@JordanandMcKay2 жыл бұрын
This is a GREAT question. I will pin this comment and we will also talk about this more in our next video. So in my experience…It kind of depends on the temple. Some are great and some are not. The older temples are harder to navigate with wheelchairs. I’ve had some friends who went through and it was near impossible to get around the endowment room in a wheelchair. I have heard that if people are physically not able to make the movements or gestures or change clothing, that they will have a temple worker be proxy for them. Although I had a friend in that situation who said it was very belittling and demeaning to have someone assigned to her - almost as if she was being treated like a child. They do have some interpreters and ASL sessions (but im pretty sure it’s not accessible all the time - usually there’s like one session on a certain day of the week in ASL) but I’m not sure if that is everywhere. When talking about more severe intellectual disabilities, here is official church policy: Individuals whose disabilities make them not accountable are “saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven” (Doctrine and Covenants 137:10). For this reason, ordinances are not needed or performed for them. The only exception is sealing to parents for those who were not born in the covenant.” I have heard some horror stories. It’s not exactly super inclusive. I’m not sure how/what the requirements are/if ADA applies (it’s been awhile since I’ve looked at it) for temples. The churches are accessible by wheel chair. But temples I’ve been in… not so much.

@@JordanandMcKay If people want to know about the temple then they prepare themselves to enter the temple to learn that knowledge through the proper order or attend an open house before the temple is dedicated. That's why members who enter the temple must meet certain standards of worthiness before entering in. The reason why the temple is so different from the rest of the world is because the Lord's ways and his thoughts are more higher up than man's ways and his thoughts. (isaiah). So I knew the temple would be very different and more advanced from how the society of the world teaches and presents itself.. its not wise to mock the Latter-day Saints for wearing temple clothing to become the Many Saviors for saving all the dead as Obadiah had prophesied and saw in vision in the bible because God will restore back temple clothing and temple ordinances also to israel in the last days. For Israel will build the temple and it will heal the waters of the dead sea. Ezekiel 42-47 So we know that temple worship will continue after Christ and his apostles.. It is true that God the Father is a glowing glorified resurrected immortal being of flesh and bone that runs the universe.. It is the truth about what kind of being God is with all that light and glory. For God is a extra terrestrial being from outer space, the scriptures clearly teach that Jesus and also his Father are not here from this world. The Bible even tells you many times over that Jesus and his Father don't come from this world. So their ways are going to be different from the worlds ways. And that's why its kept in the temple of their higher ways. I beileve the prophet Daniel also saw the Two Lords and spoke to them. So why make fun of the latter-day saints for presenting the truth about what kind of Beings that God and his Son are. It makes no sense to me to mock them like this. There's no shock value here for those who read the scriptures and understand them for I did alot of scripture study first before I even entered into the Lord's house to learn more about who they were and of their higher ways....... For Jesus even ascended up into the clouds when he left his disciples on the ground to rise up into heaven, for no mortal being can do that without having a spaceship to travel around in so they are extra terrestrial beings that came down and visited this planet and revealed to us that they created this planet and created the commandments and told us that they put us down here on this planet....

24 minutes in and I'm already shocked. I'm a religious historian. My focus is Medieval Abrahamic faiths, so I never even went near Mormonism in my studies, but I always assumed that the Mormon faith was at least as close to Christianity, but I'm not even sure it could be classified as a Christian sect! As soon as I heard the 3 Gods thing in their version of Genesis, I was beyond shocked.
@TSUNAMI-MAMI Жыл бұрын
It’s absolutely NOT Christian. Believing you become a god in the afterlife is the antithesis of Christianity. There’s only one true god, and you can never become one - we are mere mortal humans made in his image. Mormonism is like a blend of pseudo-Christianity with Scientology

@starrynyte158 Жыл бұрын
@@francescolagrotta6224 anyone can use the Bible in any way they wish, but when a main tenet of a religion contradicts THE main tenet of Abrahamic religions (that there is one God), it should be explored whether or not said religion is still within the umbrella of Abrahamic religions. As an example, we can look at the 3rd century sect of Arianism. They believed that Jesus was not cosubstantial with God, ie. Not part of the Trinity (3 forms of a singleGod), but that Jesus was a separate entity who was equal to God the Father. That sect was deemed heretical for breaking this very important and key point of Christianity, and the very thing that ties Abrahamic faiths together: the belief in the same single God. Once you add in other God's or God figures that are not specifically identified as cosubstantial, the religion is no longer monotheistic and therefore cannot be an Abrahamic faith. Even if the LDS claim that their interpretation of Genesis requires a more nuanced reading, the teachings about the afterlife also contradict monotheistic doctrine. They clearly state that some of those who reach the celestial kingdom will be God's of their own planets. I'm not sure how that belief can coexist with a monotheistic religion where there can only be one God. Nothing in any Biblical scripture says that the Abrahamic God is only God of Earth and that other planets have their own God. Of course the LDS believe that they have the complete version of Christianity. If we hypothetically assume that is true, there is still no way to classify the Mormon religion as monotheistic and maybe the adherents should see themselves of a related religion, but it is simply not taxinomically in the same category as Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

When I was a kid nobody would ever tell me what happened when you went to the temple. They said it was sacred. I took that as a sacred secret that I wasn’t worthy of hearing. I never made it past the visitors center. Always wondered about that. Edit: after watching this through, I think I understand why they might not have thought I was a good candidate. I actually would have stood up, when they said I could raise my hand if I didn’t wanna do this, and walked out without another word (or maybe run out screaming in terror?)
@davidjanbaz77282 жыл бұрын
The whole Mormon experience is to condition you so you believe the temple rituals are of God and true! Obviously Christians know they aren't and keeping them secret has helped the church grow because the missionaries don't tell you anything about the temple: once in the church then you are indoctrinated to believe in the temple.

@@davidjanbaz7728 I just watched their video on washing and anointing and I don’t care what kind of repercussions, I’d have left immediately (and loudly). When I was a teen we all had to talk to the bishop to get a recommendation and he asked what I thought to be inappropriate questions, coming from a grown-ass man to a young girl and I said so. The next Sunday it was announced in open church that I was denied a temple recommend. I stood up and left (my family followed me) and I never went back. Always wondered why the bishop has to make such a big, public, humiliating deal of it. After that video about the washing, it was crystal clear. He was sending a message to the other unsuspecting teens that “one does not say no or they will be humiliated and “punished” very publicly. Otherwise what might happen if another girl didn’t like the idea of her nude body being groped during their “ritual” and thought “if she said no then I can too”? When I started to question it they sat me down in my living room and man from our church lectured me about love having no meaning without the lds church and god. That love was only chemical reactions in your brain when you chose not to believe in the church and that it only has a deeper meaning when you add religion god and faith into the mix. Freaked me out. I can only imagine how hard it was to walk away from everyone and everything you knew. You are both very inspiring. Sending y’all big hugs!

I really appreciate you breaking this video down and explaining everything. I seen this video a couple years ago and thought this is really strange. And omg you kneel so long that you can possibly pass out goodness gracious!

I really love how clear you two are that your issue is with the Mormon church, not Mormons. When discussing any high control group, I think it's important not to devolve into insulting the intelligence of people who have been manipulated by an expertly honed system. Nobody is immune to all manipulation tactics. Anybody can experience abuse.

The video they show reminds of the ones at museums that you sit and watch not because it’s interesting but because you want a break from standing and reading

I can confirm that the first part of the endowment was changed to be "less sexist." When I last went (late 2019), the video was changed to have Eve covenant with God directly instead of covenanting to Adam. They also took out the women's becoming "priestesses unto their husbands" language. Obviously, they couldn't go back and film with the og actors, so the videos were slideshows of shots from the film with voiceovers. It actually cut out like 15 minutes of run time, which was great. Also, I don't know why, but they took out switching the robes from the left shoulder to the right. Maybe to speed it up?

Yes, I remember my hardcore Mormon friend couldn't believe the changes that last time I went, I was mentally already gone and I find the changes so predictable to the times the church was living (feminism for the most part) they have to adapt or they'll keep loosing people. That's how I see it.

I'm really glad you guys are making this. I left the church before I went all the way through the temple, and my parents, like good mormons, were the opposite of transparent with it. My mom did give me white slippers to wear in hopes that I would make it through. She still hopes tbh

My nose always starts itching whenever I film. Every. Single. Time! Also, perfect timing! I get asked about the temple all the time but I never went through so it’s nice to be able to send peeps here! ❤️

Just came across your channel and have been binge watching your channel! Y’all are the so eloquent and respectful! I was born and raised in Utah I didn’t grow up Mormon but participated in church activities and went to church with my Grandma every so often! I am an inactive convert (I was 22 when I converted) hopefully someday soon I will get my records removed!

Most of this seems so monotone and droning... It feels like you're being hypnotized.

You've probably helped so many Mormon teenagers who were already on the fence and secretly doing research about Mormonism and if they wanted to move forward. I'm not one of them, I'm watching these partly out of curiosity and partly so I can better understand the disaster cult they escaped, but thank you so much. Thank you for giving people a little bit more of a choice.

I’m 20mins from the temple in Nahvoo, IL and stayed away from Mormons until my daughter had a baby and her baby daddy’s adopted parents are mormom and the whole family and he ran away when he was 14 and just again started talking to his parents again… long story short I have a feeling his parents will push my grandson to be mormon but I am not sure because I know nothing about Mormons so trying to learn… im secretly so far terrified..

When I was a kid, my parents adopted one of my brothers. They did the sealing in the SLC temple, and they allowed the entire family to go in and be part of it. I remember walking around the corner of some corridor and seeing my dad in full temple drag as I call it, and being shocked. I was maybe 12 or 13yo and just couldn't grasp the weirdness of the whole getup.

I grew up in the church and absolutely LOATHED youth trips to do baptisms for the dead because you weren't allowed to where a bra or underwear under the white jumpsuit and then having to be WET (in white) around people I didn't know. My parents wouldn't explain anything that happened beyond that cause covenants they took to keep things secret. As an adult, the pressure ratcheted up to get my endowments done. I was basically of the mindset that I was not comfortable going into a secretive environment, with strangers, having to be forced to be in some state of undress or be in clothing I'm not comfortable in, making ETERNAL covenants that I was not informed about ahead of time and that I have not had time to consider, and then don uncomfortable filmy, itchy and completely unflattering garments that I have to wear at ALL TIMES....the answer in my heart was a big whopping FUCK NO.

Watching this as a former SDA and current mainline protestant is so wild lol. I thought SDA was already insanely weird but I’ll give it to y’all, this is a lot weirder. Plus the fact that 99% of this isn’t in the bible would give severe whiplash to anyone remotely familiar with sola scriptura 🥴
