A whirlwind visit to the 'island of great spirits'. Video of the wrecks of the Joyland and Burlington and a look at the bones of the supposed Le Griffon at Mississagi Lighthouse.

Thank you for posting this. Very nice video. I have always lived on the Island, only a mile from Julia Bay. Years ago I remember making a snowmobile trip all the way around Barrie Island and spotting a rusty boiler, probably on the north shore (of B.I. ).

Great video. I'm from the Island and only knew of one of those site. The one in Burnt Island, it's where I took my Open water training!

Actually being a diver myself and my father diving when we still lived on the Island I'd like to talk to you. I have dove some of these wrecks that you talked about in the video but also know of some others that are not as talked about. I grew up on Barrie Island and did some diving in Julia Bay. I may have some information that can help you in your return to the Island should you ever go back.

I'm inspired...I'm doing this. Did you free dive all the sites you went to?

there is more gas stations on that island than driving up to Tobermory! But if your going west on the Island, last gas is in Gore bay...not much to look at west of Gore bay anyway. (Mississaugi light house and Meldrum bay)
