if anyone reading this ever gets the chance, go to Manitoulin Island... it is Nature in a Most Epic display. The island has over 100 fresh water lakes on it, and lots of those lakes have islands within them. It is simply beautiful, save this video, lots of great info if you're planning trip. I used to own a lot in Gore Bay 30+ years ago. Thanks for sharing Wandering Wagars.

We are spending two nights in Owen Sound. Is it practical to try to do Manitoulin as a day trip taking the ferry over and back?
@WanderingWagars6 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, While it is possible to do a daytrip to Manitoulin from Owen Sound, your time will be tight. We have done that from Tobermory, which is about 1.5 hours north of OS. If you do decide to take the Chi Cheemaun , aim for one of the dinner sunset trips for your return voyage. That will save you time and get you a great meal/sailing experience. You would likely have time to hit Mindemoya (stop at Mums). and visit Bridal Veil Falls as well. However, if you haven't explored much of Tobermory and Bruce Peninsula, I'd suggest spending your time there and making a trip specifically to Manitoulin on another journey.

Went to Manitoulin island and Sudbury 10 years ago. It was boring to be honest. Tourism there is very underdeveloped. Manitoulin island has no kayak/canoe rental that goes to the lake and you need to bring your own boat. We managed to find a rental on a little ugly river. Long lineup by the way as there's no other choice. Sudbury is another boring city that we found little things to do. If you have time, you should go to Tobermory instead. Tobermory is overpriced both in accommodation and restaurant. Restaurants in Tobermory is awful even you have to pay a premium. But you have a lot more things to do compared to Sudbury and Manitoulin island.
