I definitely spread the ability points too thin by adding a point of Huntsman and two in Aero., instead of focusing like a laser on Warfare and Dual Wielding. You can get away with that for a while, but eventually the enemies will have so much armor that you need all the physical damage from dagger attacks you can get. I also alternated between adding points to Warfare and Dual Wielding, when in hindsight I should have put 2 points in Warfare and min-maxed all 10 points in Dual Wielding before I touched Warfare again. Thankfully the Magic Mirror can fix mistakes like that, and eliminating all those skills let me put the Memory points into Finesse for even more damage. Much better!

It is not only Chicken Claw in the Poly tree which is handy for a rogue. Also, Poly at its lower levels mostly pays for itself, as it gives additional stats.So, three points, with equipment, do not look too unrealistic. For even more utility, also due to Cross Skills with Warfare, Poly, Scoundrel, at the possible expense of some damage, e.g. Air 2 might be worth a look.

@Fextralife7 жыл бұрын
You don't always backstab with this Build (Whirlwind, Battle Stomp). You also gain Initiative from Wits as well.
@Jauzness877 жыл бұрын
Investing heavily into finesse the first maybe 8 levels is nice if you plan to always try and go for backstabs, as this is way more important than wits. Normally when in a party, you can pretty much always backstab the opponents, remember to use teleport on opponents who are camping with their backs against the wall. Talents like the Pawn and Duck Duck Goose make backstabbing incredibly easily to achieve.

I appreciate these build guides. Could you start by staying what level your build is based on. For attributes, can you talk about how your points should be spread as you’re leveling. Also, could you create videos for all of the companions for their preferred classes (and maybe some variation suggestions).
@Fextralife7 жыл бұрын
Hey! I guess I didn't mention the level did I. I have tried to cover the spread as you are leveling, but I can try to do a better job. I don't have the time to make videos for each companion just because it takes so much time to make 1 video, but here is a link to the written guide that does show the level of the build etc: fextralife.com/divinity-original-sin-2-builds-duelist-rogue/
@scottsaren46787 жыл бұрын
Fextralife Excellent, I appreciate the extra details in the written guide. I guess I overlooked that you’d mentioned 2:1 ratio finesse:wits in the video. I know constitution and memory are “as needed”, but some suggested spreads would be nice. I have a feeling I tend to go overboard with constitution on all of my characters. Like, my pure casters probably have 17 con and 21 int 1 memory 0 wit at this point.
@rocksummit33754 жыл бұрын

For lone wolf, what would another build work with this if you use two characters for lone wolf? Juggernaut, ranger, or undeath incarnate?
@logosao886 жыл бұрын
To use the Scoundrel skills, do BOTH weapons have to be daggers or can only one weapon be a dagger? The idea of a "Duelist" with two daggers is odd. Now if you had a sword in your main-hand and a dagger in your off-hand, that would be conceptually reasonable.
@ascended81746 жыл бұрын
You can use only one dagger for scoundrel skills, although; swords cannot backstab and they scale off of strength. Makes your build a lot less effective. You can find a mod that lets swords scale off finesse or add a new weapon type completely.
@darthdredz4 жыл бұрын
Only daggers backstab, your second hand weapon does half damage. Daggers are finese, other weapons are strength. Logically, you'd want two daggers, or dagger shield, with finese. You could do a strength base weapon with main hand and a second hand dagger. It could work, but you'd be dividing up your points and thus less effective, but its your call.

Im playing DE.first thing, as rough u dont need so much wits becuse u do crit hit most of ur opponent backstep, espacially with "the pawn" talent. just take some wits for geting initative. having crit chance for "battle Stomp" or "whirlwind" in act 1-3 is mediocre, maybe good enogh in act 4. 2- "the pawn" talent is incompatible with "excutioner" talent. if u could take both u would be a god. just take "the pawn" becuse u want hit enemy with 100% crit, Right? and with help of ur points in scoundral u can walk so far without taking any actoin. 3- dont take "Hothead" becuse u are already do crit hit with backstab and its 10% Accuracy is mediocre. in tactician or honor difficulty u get hit so much and rarely u have full health. u can invis or playing dead as fane but trust me "comeback kit" is so handy in most of situation. u can switch this with "picture of health" in midle of act 3.(becuse u get more warfare point).

@jaden5772 жыл бұрын
Because this is a “duelist” build, not an assassin, you aren’t using strictly scoundrel skills. You’ll have warfare skills that hit from the front so it will help dps if you’re able to crit with those as well. Especially when opponents are hugging the wall/other objects and it’s impossible to get behind them. Do agree with the elf statement though. Elves are superior. This build could also benefit from a couple points in aerotheurge for uncanny evasion and teleportation/nether swap

Applying Fire to the daggers of a Rogue is a bad idea because it would deal damage to Magic Armour instead of Physical Armour, and a small amount. If he's going to play Rogue he has to fully commit to dagger damage or he'll fall behind very fast.

I don’t think there should be as much focus on wits in this build, the critical chance you gain is useless as all backstabs are critical hits. Although still useful for turn order it doesn’t really matter that much, it would be better with a 4:1 ratio with finesse if you really do want that initiative.

What for do you need wits on that kind of build? And I am not talking about your natural backstabs when flanking, I am talking about how maxing wits ruins the whole concept that is, by the way, DODGING. You don't need to deal AS much damage as a normal roque does going for fast single target eliminations, you are a frontline fighter and you better have some points in Con (like every second level 1 point in con) to make you literaly unkillable even for mages. Having some Con covers your only weakness, which is dying to spells way too fast. And maxing wits makes you a no brainer casual dd rogue that can be played without maxing dual wielding at all. I know what you man think about Con and I can not agree, not respecting Con makes all your builds ending up as some hyper boring "kill them first turn so they can't kill me" thingy. But your concepts are pretty interesting still, nice job.

Backstabs crit automatically, so why put so many points in wits? I like the effort, but this advice is simply not as helpful as other guides.
@Fextralife7 жыл бұрын
The Duelist is not an "Assassin Build" that relies on really high critical multiplier and backstab. It uses backstabs of course but it is really somewhere between a "Warrior" and a "Rogue". Using skills like Battle Stomp and Whirlwind. Also Wits gives initiative which helps you attack first. Wits is really the best option after you max Finesse because you don't need any other Attributes.
@Yeldibus7 жыл бұрын
The way initiative works is: Highest ally > highest enemy > second highest ally etc. - so wits has no effect at all as long as your initiative is higher than the rest of the team. Constitution would make for a more sensible choice on high difficulty/tactician - the one that guides would be useful for. As for "does not rely on backstab, is more of a warrior rogue mix": Getting 1 point in Warfare for Battlestomp and Charge should be part of *any* scoundrel build since it gives you very cheap and useful CC. There is no reason why an "Assassin" should skip it.
