For those watching nowadays, Torturer was updated and is actually godlike on this build, since it now allows you to apply several status effects, like Burning and Poisoned, to enemies through their Armour. Absolutely amazing with this build, since it has so many different ways to apply status effects.

@@simonkammerlander7592 In my experience, yes. The early game is rougher because your Combat Points are spread so thinly, but after a while, especially when you have more skills available, it really gets going. It's the most versatile build I've tried yet. Don't take my words as gospel, though; I'm nowhere near as experienced with this game as the guy who made this video.

Don't underestimate how much damage and utility this build has. High huntsman allows you to deal INSANE damage from high ground. Also forget about critical chance, savage sortilage, and hot head...totally not worth it. Get a point into warfare. Take executioner. Take thunderstorm and watch yourself gain that extra 2 AP without making a move at the beginning of every turn while keeping enemies stun locked. Full Intelligence gear, no points into finesse or strength. This build requires a lot of memory. through a portion of act 2, you may have as many intelligence points as memory. Minimum points into constitution to wear the best shield possible and to offset the flesh sacrifice constitution debuff....no more than that. (Always pick elf for this build...see below) Always look for intelligence gear with initiative. You'll want to move first in combat. I recommend looking for a shield with +4 initiative. Through act 1 I recommend taking, pre buffing, and reapplying in combat peace of mind for the initiative bonus. Take elemental affinity...you wont regret it Choose Elf for flesh sacrifice. 1 additional AP is good, but the better reason for this skill is the blood surface. Then use the skill contamination to turn the blood surface into poison. This will give you a reduced casting cost on all geomancer-based spells. (Elemental Affinity) Once all your geo spells are on cooldown, cast rain for the bonus applied to hydro spells, or cast ignition to set the poison ablaze to create fire surfaces for the pyro bonus. Try not to take buffs spell (Fortify, Armor of Frost, Restoration) Intelligence does not buff them, and you should be focused and damage and magic damage based CC. Take teleport and nether swap. (Group up enemies or switch with one to get high ground) Do not take any short range spells! Stay at max range, use huntsman to your advantage, and stay away from melee type foes. Medusas Head and Spider Legs are good but I'd say optional. If you find yourself dying a lot trying to solo whole packs of enemies, (especially before you unlock 3 source points) take chameleon cloak, but I recommend removing it asap. 10 points into polymorph - Extra Intelligence Extra points into huntsman A Scoundrel point for Adrenaline is needed here also. Get as many points as you need in a specific element to use whichever relevant source spell. (5 Aero for Thunderstorm) I see people saying this build won't do as much damage as a single element mage. Everyone seems to be forgetting about enemy elemental resistances. How much damage can a pyro mage deal to 80-90% fire resistance? Take loremaster inspect your target and use the element your opponent is weakest in. You always can get good damage and cc on any target. The All Elements Mage Is Great!

That Executioner means you can't use The Pawn, I feel torn. Like Natalie Imbruglia. Positioning is such an important aspect of the game, particularly with ranged characters, that 0AP move you get over and over during a fight I argue stacks up to giving a higher advantage than the AP gained by Executioner on kills. You rarely face more than 4 or 5 opponents, and in those fights your positioning is paramount. I'd wager than The Pawn is a better choice than Executioner, you only get the AP on a kill, and you only get that, in a fight with 4 people, 3 times. Compared to the amount of movement you get from The Pawn during a fight, the AP it saves for positioning compared to the AP gained from a fight against 4 people, which is what, 6? The Pawn. Go The Pawn. Unless I'm severely misunderstanding, I've been using it, my mate with whom I couch coop, we're 60 hours in and now all use it. Positioning is king, especially in combat with changing levels, and inside buildings where doorways block, or other characters block LOS.

I slowly built Lohse towards this sort of build, but I instead added 1 new element every 5 levels and hit max INT through Polymorph early. It started as a Int/Wit Hydro/Poly build. Then after level 5 adding Aero. Then after level 10 Earth. And at level 15 Pyro. (I have a Pyro/Spear build for Red Prince and my main is an Archer so I never lacked in fire-damage, but popping it on Lohse at lvl 15 felt great!) She has consistently been a true terror on the battlefield. Glass Cannon allowing her to also be an effective support. I found focusing on Aero/Hydro synergy early still made her viable and for a long time I opted out of giving her fire since I had that based covered. She is still mainly Hydro/Aero due to the great support/cc skills, earth/fire for damage Then after level 15 I could up Memory/Wits (Int was maxed at this point) and now Lohse is absolutely wild. Had good luck with Gear and hadnt thought about getting Huntsman on her. Post lvl 15 Ill up the spell levels to 5. Savage Sortilege, Mnemonic, Hothead and Glass Cannon is great. Im also thinking the elemental cycles one could work well for this sort of build, but I found it detrimental at early levels

CON is useless, disregard this part of the guide completely. You don't need shields at all, if you feel you need more armor use bone cage/fortify/polymorph skills. More HP is useless, if your armor is down you probably already lost to CCs, buffing HP is pointless; focus on more armor instead. Only pump Int/Wits, with a few points in Str so you can wear mixed armor and wield 2 crit-enhancing single handed weapons. EDIT: More advanced play: Use Ambidextrous (removing offhand weapon costs zero ap and re-equipping it costs 1) to use flasks of water/oil/poison/firestorms to give yourself affinity without having memory slots locked in useless spells like ignition/contaminate. Example: Before start of fight drop oil flask, get the earth aff. Cast fossil strike (-1 ap) and impalement (-1 ap). Remove offhand, drop firestorm grenamde(-1 ap), get fire aff, cast adrenaline (+2 ap) re-equip offhand (-1 ap), cast fireball (-1 ap) cast fire daggers (-1 ap).

As long as you can do tricks on yourself to keep on your feet or prep yourself with anti-cc before combat, it's a pain in the ass. @castiellefextralife4865
@castiellefextralife4865 7 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, but it isn't a bad idea to focus on one damage type.
@antonioussykas4140
@antonioussykas4140 7 жыл бұрын
No this is not true. Its extremely useful to be able to deal both physical damage and magical damage so that when you are facing enemies who have had their physical armor stripped your mage has the ability to finish that target off, if need be. It takes a very minimum investment for mages to be able to do this thanks to skills like shield bounce and its incredibly beneficial. The same goes for CC. My rogue has clorophorm, which is resisted by magic armor. My rogue may do physical damage, but his ability to CC someone when another party member strips a priority target of their magic armor makes him far more versatile. For the party itself I found that its good to have a bit of both as well. Generally fighters are weak to magic, and mages are weak to physical, so you don't want to have your party square off against their equivalent opponents. Summoners can create elemental incarnates that deal magic damage to fighters while creating blood totems to hit mages for physical damage. Rogues can clorophorm fighters from a distance while they focus on tearing down the low physical armor of mages. Rangers are able to deal both physical and elemental damage as they choose at any range. And Elementalists can tie down fighters really well by littering the battlefield with elemental effects they must walk through and use teleport to bring mages into range of your fighters, or to push fighters away from your mages. At any rate, what is important is that each target is focused on by only one damage type, otherwise you have to break through both armors. Having both your mage and your fighter attack the same target is very ineffecient, which, full circle, is why its useful to for them to have a skill or two that lets them do damage of an opposing type. Because some times you absolutely need a certain target to die this turn, even if the damage type is not that character's speciality.
@Keyce0013

It depends upon whether or not your ideal party is designed to punch through Physical Armour, Magic Armour, or a hybrid of both. If you're only going to brute-force your way through one type of protection, then it doesn't help to have or use spells that damage the other, or offer debuffs when the neglected armour type is finally removed. If you're hybriding your team to take on both (and then selectively destroy whatever armour type is easier), then it does indeed pay to have a little of both on every character.

Because the weakest characters get targeted first, so if you have no shield you will be ganged up on and CCed. Also, you'll have so many spells you'll never need to attack with a wand, except maybe the very beginning of the game.

Hey Fextralife first and foremost nice build! As always appreciate your work I really like this build it's like a jack of all trades type very versatile and can handle a lot of different situations. The only thing I question about the build is you recommend putting attributes into Int, Memory, and Con wouldn't it be good to also dump some points into Wits? Due to Savage Sortelige? Wouldn't that help damage output a lot maybe not focus on Constitution as much and just dump more into Wits for Crit? What do you think about that?

It doesn't matter, that's why. This build is best build on new Lone-wolf mod only beaten by staff pyro mage and 2 handed enraged warfare/unstable build. In lone-wolf, it's best to start with geo/pyro because those two schools have most synergy and most offense starting spells. In 4 man parties, people mostly prioritize Aero/Hydro and ignore fire/earth because 4 man parties on tactician are all about abusing 4 evasion aura's, Cham cloaks and Uncanny evasion. The teleport spell can group everyone up and set an impressive aoe chain that freezes/stuns everyone for an endless amount of turns after the magic armor is stripped. Their end game(lvl 16) ends up being something along lines of using apothesis, Thunderstorm and Hailstorm.

How does this sound for a mixed damage party build?? 1 Juggernaut as melee, physical damage, with a little of magic damage due to geomancer skills. (Red Prince or Fane) 2 Battle mage as melee, magical damage, with a little of physical damage due to warfare skills and staff attacks. (Fane or Red Prince) 3 Rogue/Archer as range, physical damage, with a little bit of magical damage due to elemental arrows (this is my own build and my main). (Ifan) 4 Elementalist as range, magical damage, with a little bit of physical damage due to necromancer skills and water skills exclusively for healing and buffs to combine better with the battle mage´s damage. I'm just about finished a first couch coop playthrough with my mate, I chose Sebille and went huntsman, and Loshe as my companion. Having seen what Loshe can do, and what my mate's 2 characters can do, I am disappointed in the Huntsman family of skills. It's just, it's just not great. Compared to everything else on offer that we've tried, Huntsman skills are the least impressive (other than Tactical Retreat of course, worth a few points in Huntsman just for that - free haste! 1AP!). But our next play through on a higher difficulty, we're both going lone wolf mages, using advice from this video. I love playing ranged characters, bows etc. The best you can do with bows is with the consumable (although craftable) arrows. They are nearly all superior to any of the Huntsman skills. So, my advice after 60 hours of a high level high spec 3 rune slot master rune rocking bow weilding high finesse Huntsman specced archer with Sebille? Don't go a build that features Huntsman. Put points in to it for Tactical Retreat, but otherwise, do ranged via mages. Because Huntsman is just not that exciting and most of it that is any good has high AP and just. Don't. But this video, this is inspiring stuff.
@Keyce0013

Huntsman can do well if you work around it well. In some fights, you won't get the damage bonus that Huntsman provides from being above your target, as there just might not be multiple levels to fight from, or they easily catch you. Getting enough points into Huntsman to get the spells you want, and then dumping the rest into Warfare, can improve your overall damage across all platforms of combat.

Except that you can't. You can only steal from any one npc one time, and how much you take is limited by weight and value, and that can only be increased by putting points into Thievery when you already have a dozen other spell schools you're planning to spend your points on. You'll certainly want to steal books, but it won't get you all the ones you need.

Scott E thievery is a civil ability so it does not interfere at all with magic shools. And two point of thievery early on makes so you can steal all skills books on low level vendors pretty much. As long as you focus your civil points in thievery you won't need to spend a dime in spell books ! (Except for driftwood square vendors since it's impossible to steal from them )

So many wrong information here. 1. Executioner triggers an unlimited amount of time per encounter and makes it one of the best talents. 2. Spreading your combat abilities to all 4 elements (3 per element) may give you a legitimate build, in the sense that you get a lot of variety. However, spending the next 10 points in polymorph, to get 10 more ability points for intelligence IS NOT the way you maximize your elemental damage. In complete contradiction to what is said on the video, points in elemental abilities (pyro, aero, ect.) give you more damage boost than points in intelligence, even both points are described as a 5% increase. How so? Its in the damage calculation. While the points in intelligence are additive to your damage mulitiplicator, points in elemental abilities (e.g. pyro) are multiplicative. For example: 100 Base fire damage, 20 points in intelligence, 0 point in pyro = 100 x (1+ (20 x 0.05)) x (1+(0 x 0.05)) = 100 x (1+1) x 1 = 100 x 2 x 1 = 200 damage 100 Base fire damage, 10 points in intelligence, 10 points in pyro = 100 x (1+(10 x 0.05)) x (1+ (10 x 0.05)) = 100 x 1.5 x 1.5 = 225 damage

fair enough. Just saying that if you really want to maximize damage as an elementalist, concentrate on 2 elements, and invest in the regarding school. i would even say with 3 elements, thats the better way. If you really want to do all 4 at once, then your suggestion is the best option i agree.

I see no reason to ever use Intelligence armor. All armor can have any skills so why run around with so little physical armor when there is no reason to. The amount of enemies who deal magical damage are far less common then physical damage dealers. There is no downside to running heavier armor and even though u are ranged enemies can easily get next to you with one skill. I am running beast as an elementalist right now and after he died constantly cause he had no physical armor i set him up in heavy armor and now he doesn't die. Why spend a turn fortifying or mending when you can be dealing damage if u put on actual good armor?

This is really stupid. Especially getting hothead. First of all, nobody should be getting hothead. But let's hold off on that, and presume crit actually works properly in this game. It is still not a good idea for an elementalist mage to even consider crit. Crits are for your crit units that are geared towards picking off enemies and dpsing larger enemies and bosses. The elemental mage is purely for battlefield control and aoe dps. This unit can be built in a sickening way that allows you to control the environment to your advantage. While doing alot of general damage. You should not be getting any spells that don't scale with intelligence. Such as any heal buff spell or armor. The three attributes described here are correct. However, constitution falls far behind. You should be putting at least 2 points into intel and mem for every one point you put into con. The other three attributes are useless. Now onto crit as a whole. It's worthless in this game. Base damage will always yield you a higher net dps output. Yes a crit hit vs a base damage hit will deal more damage. But over 100 hits, you will get way more output by spending points into base damage over crit. And definitely avoid any perk that offers crit. Meaning hothead and savage sortilege are a waste. On every unit.
@Mephist04
@Mephist04 6 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with you about crits are useless. Maybe it is just because I am a lonewold, but I have 40 int, 8 points in every magic school and prefer any gear that offers int boost. And meanwhile, I have 90% crit rate (with hothead, 40 wits, peace of mind, flame runes in my accessories (they also boost int too), and parts of gear that boost wits/crit rate, but don't offer int at all (gloves, pants)), so almost all my casts are crits and boost my damage by 2 times. It is certainly worth increasing your crits because you can do it without sacrificing a base damage, at least for lonewolf.

You say to put point in huntsman and polymorph instead of pyro, which gives a 5% multiplicative DMG to all schools. Also, you will always need to cap into INT so more point from poly are useless. This is basic from just reading passive bonuses, I wont enter into details of more complicated mistakes. 0/10
@castiellefextralife4865
@castiellefextralife4865 7 жыл бұрын
Where to begin... 1. Pyro only increases fire damage. Go test it. 2. You will cap out Intelligence around level 15 or 16 ish and then points into Poly will not matter, thus the addition to Huntsman. The thing you seem to forget is that you have to play the game up until level 15 or 16 to get to that point. Divinity isn't an MMO where there is an "end game" so making a Build Guide for a completely maxed out character is useless, because by that point in the game you'll get to play that Build for an hour and then the game ends.. 3. Please actually play the game.
