@Jumping Places it's not Hindu new year rather that of Gujaratis and Jains and also, Sikhs do celebrate this festival. So, the Diwali is being celebrated by three Communities in India. We have festival of colour, festival of lights and infact every single day from September, we have some festival or others.

Yes Diwali is victory of light over darkness.But,it has its own history.When Rama(Hindu God & king of Ayodhya) returned to his kingdom after 14 years of exile in jungle with his wife Sita and brother Laxman it was dark night and people of the kingdom light lamps at their house to see a glimpse of their king.From that day Diwali is celebrated.

The lush greenery, hills and ecstatic views of sunrise from the hilltops are most attractive to many. This seems to be a different nation, as it has diverse cultures and rich tribal traditions that are very different from the other parts of the country. Karl Rock also visited Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura. Watch his northeast videos to know more. So glad you enjoyed your time there. The museum was so colorful and beautiful inside. I love the fact that Carolina was happier and you to Chris because I think it makes the difference in the video. The festival of lights was great and so much happiness and joy from the Indians. You always capture the essence and feel of your surroundings making everything so wonderful. I greatly appreciate both you and Carolina's respect for religious Coulter. Me and my wife Lanette really enjoy this video and appreciate what you both are doing and how you do it with such feelings and passion. Our love to you both, so safe travels, live your dreams, and be at peace. Till next time Chis, and as always thank you for the great feelings you bring my wife and me.🤗😎

@@JumpingPlaces Let me start by saying thank you and my pleasure. I am originally from Escondido California now I live in Bismarck North Dakota. If I may add in my youth I was a backpacker myself but outdoors. I walked the Grand Canyon for three weeks and the Sierra Mountains a few times on 2 week trips. Been up and down Baja California and to Mexico City. I would of loved to travel like you and Carolina but I was a father at 22. I still got around the whole western and central United States and took my children on great adventures they still tell me about. Poor health has me grounded but I still want to go to Vietnam, Belize, Philippines, or the Ukraine. So Chris, thank you and Carolina for making our day ever time you make a new video and bring a great adventure into our lives. Great blessings and safe journey's to you both.

Omg Chris this is by far my favorite video thus far. You crack me up, is how you shout out “Jesus Christ” at the ppl Diwali celebrations lol #shameface. Your knowledge of Divali was also impressive. The candle lamps are called “deyas ” and the guys with the drums are called “Tassa”. It’s so strange how I’m all the way in the Caribbean and how cultures collide. Anyways wishing you and carol love, wealth,strength and prosperity #happydivali
@JumpingPlaces

Cheers my friend! Yeah maybe jesus christ wasn't the most appropriate thing to say lol.. I usually just say it when I am surprised, not really referring to the man himself... a figure of speech lol I didnt know much about diwali but wikipedia always helps me a lot when I visit places :D Happy diwali my friend.. Are there big celebrations where you live?
@bajan256
@bajan256 4 жыл бұрын
Jumping Places lol I know it’s a figure of speech lol even I do it. Yes Divali was big. Well nothing like mother India but big for Caribbean standards. I think faith had both you and carol exactly where you needed to be. The blessings you guys would have received for just being receptive of another’s culture/religion would be immense. Fun fact Divali is the darkest day of the year so you wouldn’t have seen the moon

James Charles, what actually makes northeast India beautiful that, you come across the most beautiful face of nature. Everywhere you look, your eyes meet the hills, waterfalls, valleys and panoramic views of snowcapped peaks of Himalayas. It is like nature had decided to gift this region with all her beauty

@@JumpingPlaces this year Navratri (29 September - 7 October).....Navratri is also known as Durga Puja in West Bengal. People over there especially women play with colors. Navratri is one of those festivals. It is a nine day festival in India and on the tenth day, the concluding ceremony is done. During these nine days, we worship Goddess Durga and her other idols. From the very first day, all the idols of goddess Durga are being designed and decorated in such a way that they look immensely beautiful and it absolutely seems like they have come to life again.The actual purpose of celebrating Navratri is to precede the belief of the good ending or overcoming the bad or good over evil. On all the 9 days different worshiping books are being read and the temples and houses are decorated with flowers and lights and prayers are being enchanted on the loud speakers all the time. A proper dress-up with accessories is being done for the idol. Each day is a day for a different idol. Every morning and evening devoted to prayers about the goddess. Different tents are being created those days to place the idol so that people could come and worship. Many families go out in the evening to attend the prayers happening in those tents where the idol is being placed.In some part of the country, some devotees also are on a fast for those nine days to impress the goddess with the devotion they pay and for the love and affection, they have for the goddess and others feast. And during this period the food which is prepared for the devotees or the people on fast is totally different and they are cooked without salt in it. During the period of these nine days people don’t eat non-veg food as according to them this may get the goddess angry but for some, this is just not in their rituals and some people slaughter goats as an offering to the goddess......Navratri is a festival which is mostly celebrated in the northeast and eastern part of India. Kids in schools have a holiday on the 7th, 8th and the 9th day. As those are the last days of the festival. The tenth day is also known as the Vijayadashami or Dussehra. On this day all the idols are being immersed in the water bodies. Different programs are being done on the tenth day such as Raam-Leela. In this event Raam-Leela, artists perform different stories and chapters of Lord Rama and entertain and acknowledge people. People take time out especially for the event, as they are very entertaining as well as knowledgeable about Hindu culture.....People in Bihar and other rural areas take this festival way too seriously and make it as a grand festival. Navratri generally comes in the autumn season. In Gujarat, people celebrate it playing Dandiya and Garba amongst themselves making a circle and dancing. During those nine days, it feels like someone from our family has come to meet us and after the tenth day, an absence is being felt when the idols are being immersed.Navratri is one of the most vibrant and long festivals in Hindu and Indian culture. People all around the world come to attend Navratri in India. If you still haven’t experienced Navratri in India, you must. You won’t regret. 2) Ganesh Festival (2 September this year) its 11 days Festival....Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most prominent festivals of India. People of India wait the whole year for this festival eagerly. Although it is celebrated all over the country, in the state of Maharashtra it is celebrated with the most enthusiasm.Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival which holds utmost importance in the religion. This festival is celebrated following the Hindu Mythology which says that Ganesh Chaturthi is the birthday of the Lord Ganesha. Hindus refer to Lord Ganesha as the remover of all obstacles. People believe that Lord Ganesha comes every year with prosperity and success.Furthermore, they welcome Lord Ganesha in their homes with this festival with the belief that he will remove all their sufferings. Ganesh Chaturthi sparks joy all over the country and unties people with celebrations.Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated for a whole 11 days. It begins on the Chaturthi when people install the statue of Lord Ganesha in their homes and temples. This festival ends on Anant Chaturdashi with Ganesh Visarjan. The devotees of the Lord Ganesha offer their prayers to God. They sing devotional songs for him and recited various mantras in his praise. They perform aartis in favour of the lord and seek his blessings on them.Most importantly, they offer Lord Ganesha sweets. Ganesha Chaturthi especially calls for Modak. Devotees offer Lord Ganesha with Modak, which is the lord’s favorite dessert. Modaks are sweet dumplings which people make with a filling of coconut and jaggery. They either fry them or steam them. People at homes and sweet shops make this sweet delicacy. They are seen around Ganesha Chaturthi mostly and are a huge hit amongst children.This 11-day long festival begins with people getting up in the morning and bathing. They buy new clothes for this festival and wear these clean clothes in the morning after bathing. They follow the traditional rituals of chanting mantras and songs.Early on, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated in a few families. Later on, it spread all over and thus began the installation of idols and immersion in the water. This marked the beginning of making Ganesh Chaturthi a larger than life festival. In other words, the idol immersion denotes freedom from evil and sufferings. People set up pandals make glorious statues of Lord Ganesha. Towards the end of the festival when the visarjan is about to take place, people carry out a full-fledged procession. People come out in hundreds and thousands and dance their way to the rivers and oceans.When Ganesh Chaturthi ends, they pray for the return of Lord Ganesha every year. They look forward to this festival every year. The final immersion of Lord Ganesha’s statue in the river or ocean marks the end of Ganesh Chaturthi.In short, Ganesh Chaturthi is a fun-filled festival in honour of Lord Ganesha. People all over India thoroughly enjoy it. All the devotees of Lord Ganesha come together irrespective of their differences of caste and colour. Ganesh Chaturthi spreads joy and unites people all over.
