Dennis Franz (Earl) played NYPD detective Andy Sipowicz throughout the run of the TV series _NYPD Blue_ for 12 years. There's also some great cultural exchange going on where people who've grown up with certain genres of music within their community are getting into other music genres popular in other communities. This song came out right after my mother divorced her own Earl. We ended up moving halfway across the state without telling anyone where we were headed to lose him because he'd resorted to stalking. Let's just say it definitely made us feel better.
@beekind4664 жыл бұрын
I lived it too. He secretly became a meth-monster. The night I'd had enough was when he came home drunk after drinking 8- 1/2 pints of brandy. He wanted to fight. He pushed me over our baby son into the sharp rocks on our fireplace. I grabbed the baby, locked us in the bathroom and called police. After 6 years of this bullshit I moved into a women's and children's shelter. Ultimately he died of a wicked, rare, fast killing leukemia. I'd always said I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone but this time cancer saved lives. Ours. I knew eventually he would kill me and I didn't deserve that. I hope you find a way out, sunny.... Thanks for sharing your inspiring story, JW. There are far too many women who've endured abuse. Ending that cycle in my family happened because of me. Take. No. Abuse.

Men shouldn’t put up with women being abusive either but it is more common for men to be abusive towards women. So no it’s not sexist for women to not put up with abuse. And any woman who would get pissed off about a man defending himself from an abusive woman is sexist herself not the other way around.

This song was famous/infamous in Country after it came out. A lot of people objected to it, saying it promoted violence; you heard "stop the cycle of violence" a lot. Some radio stations banned it from their play-list. Others said that it helped expose abuse/abusers, and helped the abused feel empowered. Me, my attitude was "well, they took care of that problem/threat" - and "maybe this'll make certain folks re-think what they're doing". After finding out what happened to a close friend, I have become kind of ... hard-core about this stuff. Sorry! (Sorta)

This song justifies that you learn how to swing a bat really hard when you are young. After I left home where my mom was very handsy, I swore no one would ever lay their hands on me like that again. So when my husband lost his mind and thought he would treat me like his father treated his mother, I brought the baseball bat after he fell asleep. First swing was across his knees, then every time he suggested that he was going to hit me again the bat swing again. He has never hit me again. I think he is afraid if he does he may not walk afterwards.

Women like their revenge! "you made one mistake, you double crossed me and left me alive!"

Wait... but that's technically two mistakes?

@@RivkahSong Good question! you see, the threat is that the combination is the mistake. Either one is not a mistake if you don't also do the other. Let me explain: The implication is that leaving me alive is not a mistake if you don't double cross me and double crossing me is not a mistake if you don't leave me alive. If you do both, the idea is that I will come back to seek my revenge later, so the fact that it is ONLY one mistake makes it sound more aggressive than if the speaker says it is two! (ie. "if you double cross me, you had better kill me as well") Ideally, this is to be said AFTER you have triggered your revenge and they are under your control and not while they are deciding whether or not to kill you for obvious reasons. :) In fact, if you are not in some action or gangster movie, best not to actually say it at all! ;)

@@theoverunderthinker The fact that you're saying it all kinda implies they left you alive, though lol. Seems a little redundant.

@@RivkahSong Rigth. it what you say as your revenge is complete to make them regret it more! Like salt in a wound; it makes it hurt more!

Had this video appear on my recc list because I'd watched the original video, and clicking that recc lead to this pure, comedy gold. XD Beautiful reaction, omg, thank you so much for the laugh, I needed that today, haha.
