Dennis Franz (Earl) played NYPD detective Andy Sipowicz throughout the run of the TV series _NYPD Blue_ for 12 years. When the Dixie Chicks asked him to be in this video as one of the two cops, he insisted that he wanted to play Earl instead. They gave him the part. He did a great job playing Earl and Zombie Earl.

Yeah... the great thing about reactions is that they're the next best thing to experiencing something you like for the first time all over again, and that's watching someone _else_ experience something you like for the first time. There's also some great cultural exchange going on where people who've grown up with certain genres of music within their community are getting into other music genres popular in other communities. It's helping people of different backgrounds to better relate to one another.

I lived it too. He secretly became a meth-monster. The night I'd had enough was when he came home drunk after drinking 8- 1/2 pints of brandy. He wanted to fight. He pushed me over our baby son into the sharp rocks on our fireplace. I grabbed the baby, locked us in the bathroom and called police. After 6 years of this bullshit I moved into a women's and children's shelter. Ultimately he died of a wicked, rare, fast killing leukemia. I'd always said I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone but this time cancer saved lives. Ours. I knew eventually he would kill me and I didn't deserve that. I hope you find a way out, sunny.... Thanks for sharing your inspiring story, JW. There are far too many women who've endured abuse. Ending that cycle in my family happened because of me. Take. No. Abuse.

When they mentioned killing Earl it sure cleared up your confusion about that up tempo beat. Loved that look on your face! I think the lyrics you didn't understand were: "We'll pack a lunch. We'll put you in the trunk". Love this song. Yep, Earl got what he deserved. I think they included him in the dance sequences to keep the video from being too dark because a murder had been committed. You can't really get too sad that a man is murdered because there he is dancing with everyone else.

This song was famous/infamous in Country after it came out. A lot of people objected to it, saying it promoted violence; you heard "stop the cycle of violence" a lot. Some radio stations banned it from their play-list. Others said that it helped expose abuse/abusers, and helped the abused feel empowered. Me, my attitude was "well, they took care of that problem/threat" - and "maybe this'll make certain folks re-think what they're doing". After finding out what happened to a close friend, I have become kind of ... hard-core about this stuff. Sorry! (Sorta)

whoa horsey whoa yes because women should totally just put up with being beaten up by people who are biologically stronger than them! No we shouldn’t. Men shouldn’t put up with women being abusive either but it is more common for men to be abusive towards women. So no it’s not sexist for women to not put up with abuse. And any woman who would get pissed off about a man defending himself from an abusive woman is sexist herself not the other way around.

This song justifies that you learn how to swing a bat really hard when you are young. After I left home where my mom was very handsy, I swore no one would ever lay their hands on me like that again. So when my husband lost his mind and thought he would treat me like his father treated his mother, I brought the baseball bat after he fell asleep. First swing was across his knees, then every time he suggested that he was going to hit me again the bat swing again. He has never hit me again. I think he is afraid if he does he may not walk afterwards.

So once she showed up to the designated drop off point so she could give us children to our dad for the weekend, blaring this song from her car. Grease thing!! LOL.."You're the one I want..." It's one of my favorite Dixie Chicks. You heard of them because they spoke out against President Bush and the war. People went batshit crazy. Burning CD's, no radio play, concert #s took a hit. I think they all went on to have families. One of the tall girls came out, which was risky for anyone in country music, especially at that time period. I don't know if they ever got back together or not. I'd love to hear a song about the idiot in the White House. He makes Bush look like a genius.

My anthem. Billy, this is a song that gave all us beaten women some hope, even if we didn't kill the bastard. "...stuff you in the trunk." And do remember that Sony still owned them when the video was made without a whole lot of their consent. Dennis Franz was a MAN to feature in this. #BillyYouSoCrazy check out their I'm Not Ready To Make Nice and do a bit of research on how that song came to be.

Wait... but that's technically two mistakes?
@theoverunderthinker
@theoverunderthinker 4 жыл бұрын
@@RivkahSong Good question! you see, the threat is that the combination is the mistake. Either one is not a mistake if you don't also do the other. Let me explain: The implication is that leaving me alive is not a mistake if you don't double cross me and double crossing me is not a mistake if you don't leave me alive. If you do both, the idea is that I will come back to seek my revenge later, so the fact that it is ONLY one mistake makes it sound more aggressive than if the speaker says it is two! (ie. "if you double cross me, you had better kill me as well") Ideally, this is to be said AFTER you have triggered your revenge and they are under your control and not while they are deciding whether or not to kill you for obvious reasons. :) In fact, if you are not in some action or gangster movie, best not to actually say it at all! ;)

This was the most controversial video on CMT ever. At least since they refused to air Garth's video for The Thunder Rolls. When they aired this video it really upset Garth's label.

The Thunder Rolls was aired, but country music video channels compromised, by making Garth redo the song with a verse cut out. To this day you can't find the full uncut song unless it's live.

I thought you might get a kick out of this song from the 1970's, it was banned as soon as it came out, I actually only heard it once on the radio and luckily I was recording to 8-track tape that day and so I got a copy, the song is called "You Think I'm "Psycho" don't You Mama" by Eddie Noack.
