Absolutely, when she holds the note on ‘You’ in “Like an old fashioned hero, You…………….. stand before me” I’m gone. What a note and it reminds me of Agnetha holding a note in “Winner takes it all”. To have one top drawer vocalist in a band is something but to have two stunning girls both capable of heart wrenching vocal delivery really leaves me speechless.

Agnetha's note on 'The Winner Takes It All's is a held note. She is not bending, shaping, working the note. Frida shapes/works notes and phrases. One of the most impressive Frida phrases is on 'I Let The Music Speak'. Frida sings an extremely long phrase of multiple words, pitches without breaking for a breath. She has mastered diaphragmatic breathing! The last note on 'Adante Adante' is held for about 16 seconds... AND shaped. Frida changes the pitch. You can really notice her narrow and widens the note half way through her hold.

The unison chorus is bliss, because of the technical proficiency of Frida. Frida is the one with the keen ear, large range, diaphragmatic breathing , control, versatility, etc ... Frida always does the heavy lifting in ABBA songs because of her technical proficiency. Bjorn has explained this over the past several years in a tactful manner. The ABBA fan who has a bit of a musical/analytical mind is able to appreciate the technical proficiency of Frida. Agnetha is fine, but does not have Frida's refined skills.

It has all been delayed, cause the making of ABBA avatar concert movie took longer than anticipated. Then came corona. The only person in the world that has heard the ABBA recordings. Carl is the world's leading ABBA historian. Regarding the vocal abilities of the girls. That is in the book. Both great, but Frida's vocal abilities get lots of attention. She first got noticed in grade school. Benny and Bjorn leaned heavily on her in studio and particularly in live shows. Frida loved the stage and also a great live singer. Benny, Bjorn and Michael Tretow (ABBA's engineer) considered Frida a master vocalist as well as other musicians that have worked with her. She has total control over her instrument. Always in proper key and on pitch. Kenn sense of pitch. Michael discribes Agnetha voice as "punchy". Michael describes Frida voice as "high-fidelity". Agnetha came to ABBA as a pop studio star, with some stage experience, but very little. She was known as a pop star. First pop song hit, at 18, her own composition. Quite simply brilliant ! This is one of my Top 5 favourites from Abba . Frida surpasses herself - her vocals have never had such passion in them and Agnetha ,when she joins in at the third chorus, is superlative . The melody is beautiful and the production is impeccable .I will never comprehend why Bjorn and Benny felt this was not good enough to make it onto the "Super Trouper" album. It ought not only to have been on the album but also released as a single , imho .

There's a beautiful story regarding the discovery of this forgotten track. Benny, Bjorn and Mike, the original engineer, were at the mixing desk listening this track for possible release in a collection of rarities. The attitude was... 'ok, it was not released, there mustn't be any good on it'. Then, when in the final verse Agnetha and Frida's voices raised together, smiles appeared in the face of almost everyone in the room. They couldn't believe the amazing job they had done in that song

Frida, my idol. I'll always remember her as the elegant one with a velvety voice, my favorite Abba. I also envy her for her coolness as well, meaning she's always so collected and free of stage fright. Anyone so cool deserves to be a member of one of the top bands in all of history, have a fulfilling life, marry a prince, and all that. As for Abba, it's almost a freak accident that the guys' musical talent and the amazing vocals and looks of the ladies somehow all came together. And their songs seem to be perennial, you know, because as people grow older they mellow down and love them even more. Don't you sometimes feel that the Beatles sound passe as time goes, since it's more of fad music tied to that particular time. Abba's on the other hand is more universal kind of music, freer from the changing times, because they stick to more fundamental layer of, I think. Anyway long live Abba's music, and happy retirement for all of them.

Thank heaven, another Frida fan. I love all of ABBA's music, but I do get a little sick sometimes of all the Agnetha worship that I see among fans of their music. As a professional singer myself, I know that these things are subjective and I would never presume to say that one is a "better" singer than another, but if you listen to ABBA's complete repertoire you discover that Frida not only had a more versatile voice, but her range far exceeded Agnetha's. People think of Agnetha as the soprano and Frida as the alto, but it's deceptive; when Frida is doing backup vocals she is just as often soaring ABOVE Agnetha's melody line as below. I love 'em both. I do. And the band would never have existed without the guys. But the sound of Frida's voice is one of the loveliest in pop music. Ever.

Oh, but Maria--Agnetha fanatics have made it a CAREER to insult Frida. She's not blonde. She doesn't have a fat ass. She's not as experienced. She's not as sweet. She doesn't sing as,well She's a show-off. She's ugly. She's a Nazi. Her hair is awful. I've read them all from these fine, outspoken, admirable people. The problem is you and I are too stupid to see it, as they will willingly explain.

Why does she attract so many rude people who think that they are allowed to insult Frida. I have never read any comment of a Frida fan that insults Agnetha. Very bizarre.... I love them both. This is what I like most about ABBA, their wide range of beat and subject. Can you imagine a Scandinavian group singing a song with Latin American color, like 'Fernando' and this, 'Put On Your White Sombrero'. With the lively beat they employed here, they are more Mexican than them Mexican musicians! I'm impressed. Why this gem did not turn into a hit is beyond me. Thank you for posting this one.
