Dixon Municipal Band Annual Spring Concert 2024 with Louis 'Blue Lou' Marini & Tom 'Bones' Malone

The Dixon Municipal Band performed this concert on March 23, 2024 at The Dixon: Historic Theatre in Dixon, IL. Our very special guest artists Louis 'Blue Lou' Marini and Tom 'Bones' Malone joined us on several numbers inspired by the Blues Brothers movie (1980), their personal selections and selections of the band. The phrase "it takes a village" really applies to this production. A year of planning went into seeing this concert come to fruition. The thank-yous are many. We thank our parents who supported us through squeaks and fracking while we practiced our instruments, band directors and school music programs, Dixon High School (rehearsal space) and their band director Riley Carter, the city of Dixon, our sponsors, Dixon Main Street (programs, flyers, and advertising) , Donald Burnett (Dixon Band Team member - advertising), Chris Hammitt (announcer and business manager), Cathy James (personnel manager), The Dixon: Historic Theatre (their staff, Ship -sound engineer, Darren Mangler - artistic producer ), David Tallacksen from NIU (audio recording), GIl Ross (photo credit), Alley Loop Saloon and Deli (orange whips), Caylee & Logan White (program attendants), Missy VanDrew (former state trooper & band roadie), the Galena Steak House & the Basil Tree (restaurants for post rehearsal & concert dinners), and finally, our director - Jon P James, and anyone else involved in this venture I may have forgotten.
