Here is the diy video of how to replace crank case ventilation valve on m54 engine, similar to bmw e46, 2003-2005 bmw z4 e85, 2000-2006 bmw x5 3.0i e53, 2004-2005 bmw x3 e83, 2000-2003 bmw 530i, 525i e39
Failure of this item usually leads to oil leaks and air leaks which makes car running lean, with codes p0171 and p0174

GREAT lighting. I was able to complete the pcv hoses, gaskets, and now I have the pcv done and the valve cover gasket done on the other side where I started but couldn't finish because the hoses were brittle!

Great vid, thanks for posting. I'm assuming you're in Calif.? Doing this on the street I'm surprised the Eviro Cops didn't show up complaining about the carp cleaner. I also noticed you were blocking a fire hydrant lmao. I give you tons of credit for doing this in the environment you were in. I live in a small apartment complex where I'm not suppose to work on my car, I do all my work in my parking spot, no complaints.....yet.

p0444 is for purge valve, what engine do you have in your x5?

@@Zeiten it's a 2004 x5 3.0l cylinder. For some reasons my fuel tank cap is not click when screw it on. So I order a new cap on Amazon today. Thanks

@@Dicecuta Well try that first, we use more specific codes but might as well be the reason, if not next step is purge valve replacement, but it is best to get it diagnosed before replacing parts

Question, the vacuum breather has that rubber piece that you took from the old one and put on the new one. Mine has a couple of cracks in it and I don't know what to do about that. Do you know what part number that would be because I can't find it?

Cracks don’t matter, leave it as it is, there is no part number for it

No part numbers, all it is is a vacuum plug that you can pick up at any parts store. Get a variety pack.

My car is smoking randomly when i give it gas but not at iddle,,,i m not loosing coolant and is not mixing either,it burned a lil bit of oil but hopefully is not leaky valves in the head :( spark plugs are dry to ,you think it may be a cvv problem? I dont see no leaks under the manifold either

viceeighty eight same problem bro only when I step on it all the way ... I changed so much shit , plugs coils oil oil flush fuel flush fkn you name it ... I think this is the main problem as if it was the rings it would be blowing smoke always .... but it only happens when u step on it as if the breather is blocked .. I’ll change mine and let you guys knowlll

I didn't catch what product you used to clean the idle control? Was it lubricant or brake cleaner?

Can pcv cause loss of power at low revs . I checked my DISA and it was coverd in oil also some in my intake manifold . I have a 2003 525i e60 please somebody help

Yes it can, can also cause misfire and oil in the intake manifold

In 2008 ccv built into valve cover also changing valve cover would be a good idea if there are oil leaks(might be just valve cover gasket or valve cover cracked), but at this year ccv usually doesn't cause problems

There isn’t one on your car, there is just a pcv valve on valve cover and a 3-way hose connecting valve cover and intake manifold

2006 and 2007 e60 and e61 525i, 530i still have the ccv but it is differs from models 2004-2005 because later models have different engine, since 2008 ccv in its usual form is not present anymore in 528i or 535i models

@@reza_dc2 place a screw driver in the schrader valve on the fuel rail. It looks like a valve stem. This releases the pressure so much fuel won't come out when removing the injectors

im surprized why take all that out ? that you take injectors to do this and taking the whole intake off. I did this job in 45 min 50 times over just by taking off intake intake boot, icv and throttle body, and disa valve and oil dip stick housing and the cabin filter housing , the e60 m54 setup is much easier since the power steering is not mounted on the oil filter housing and more room. waisted time and extra parts . but i like your detail video .

well the goal was to replace intake manifold gasket as well, and i like to take everything apart it gives you clear vision of all the other components, once again i fix bmws every single day and it is important to prevent issues and for that i have to do the job properly. The whole procedure takes me about an hour with intake manifold removal cleaning and putting it all back together.

what an awful design. this should be required watching for anyone considering buying one of these if you plan on doing your own work. fyi no other car manufacturers in America or Asia are as messed up to pull an intake. most take an hour tops. this one takes 4, if you know what you're doing.

Good question, let's see, first of all i use this business model because there are higher profits here comparing to a shop, and way less headache, second, the schedule is flexible and i can work when i want to work, third, better customer service when you do mobile repairs you are coming to one car and one car only so there is no way you spread yourself thin between multiple cars and loose focus. There are many more benefits i might shoot a video about it, in the end of the day i don't want a shop, it's just too old, time for new things

@@Zeiten Yes, I agree that mobile service is good choice for car repairs/service but over here in UK it's not legal to do that on public highway on a regular basis. Small jobs are generally ok, but strippping an engine or anything major taking a full day or so is not pratical. Keep up the good work and keep the videos going.
