Creative thinking! Ill have to keep my eye open for a table saw now. Been watching used stuff thats within reasonable driving distance for motor and some sort of frame material for my own build. This opens another avenue for it, thank you!

Just picked up this table saw for $75. Top is a little rusty, but she's a one owner saw and is in otherwise great condition. Found it on FB marketplace. They were asking $125. I've been looking for this saw since watching this video ~2 weeks ago. Excited to make the belt sander. Thanks for taking the time to make the video!

Great job. And if you are looking for more content ideas, don't be afraid to run with more ideas others have already built for KZbin, just show us how to make it better/cheaper/easier. My patent attorney told me in one of our very first conversations (yes, at one time I had a patent attorney) that patents are not designed exclusively to protect intellectual property. They are mostly to protect a specific design, but more to encourage improvement of an idea. With that in mind, there are some very clever ideas out there desperately in need of refinement. I'm glad I stumbled onto your channel... the projects are entertaining!

1] One of the best tips from the build is locating the handle at the center of gravity. I do that all the time 2] Being right handed you spent time and effort reversing the motor rotation when you could have simply done the build with the motor mounted on the RIGHT HAND side of the belt. Sometimes being a lefty has its advantages, but the worst part of being left handed is how grinders rotate the 'wrong' direction for us south paws. Nice build

Great job with the belt grinder. Love that you used the remaining table saw parts. PLEASE for your safety (and for new content) make a vice for your drill press. It's only a matter of time before a drill bit grabs breaking through the backside of a part and makes a scrap metal helicopter that tears you to shreads. Be safe!

@amcustomfab

Explain what you mean by a switch.?
@middleway1885
@middleway1885 Жыл бұрын
@AM Custom fab a light switch, old school dials/buttons, or connecting it via voice command... since many people are enjoying the "internet if things." How much would you charge for such a thing... Especially if you can have it auto-order the belts when you/they are running low... Making a 'subscription based service' would give a potential for repeat customers (Especially if it is made with the old school - Proudly 'Made in the U.S.A.' stamp of recognition; or any other country of origin.) Mhmmm, jobs for those that are into quality service and products... plus the other jobs it would create. (Transportation, logistics, research into better products, etc) Not to mention, the amount of wasted production time of products that aren't really in high demand, would be reduced, creating for more streamlined aspects for all that use and provide... Win-win...

Very cool! I want to see you build a mag drill. Use those electro magnets you used in the vise, graft them to a Craigslist or facebook market place small drill press. Or find one of those old school Craftsman "Turn your drill into a drill press kits" and slap some electromagnets and a big ol' drill on it.

That's a great build! I've been wanting to build a budget belt grinder and your video has given me some inspiration. Unfortunately the only motor I have to use is an old garbage disposal motor. nicely done, i'm going down the same path. i have the same craftsman table saw and in the process of making a fabrication table and belt grinder out of it. I have the saw completely apart and table mostly done, one thing I noticed though is on mine the motor says that it is NOT reversable. so guess i'll do the belt sander with the motor on the other side. Question, do you have plans/measurements for your belt grinder build? I can noodle it out, but it's just wondering...

Hey...wait a minute. I didn't see you use that cool magnetic fixture when you were grinding the plate. Did you break it already? 😁 Also, just out of curiosity, do you think the front piece of angle on the frame (the part that the platen is mounted to) will get in the way of anything when you use the sander. I was thinking if it was turned around, it would be out of the way which might be helpful sometimes..
