Since he doesn't respond to the attachment of the top board question, thought this might help, I used a small counter sinking bit and screwed the boards in from the top, once flush I used wood filler to fill the hole, sanded it when dried and looks perfect!!! Thanks :)

Hi Barbra, we usually try for 1.5" whether on a bench or table.

on the frame, 1.5". on the underside to attach the top boards 1.25".

Hi, I don't remember but in the video, the length will be the 1x6's. But, you can custom make it any size you want. just lengthen the horizontal 2x4's. hope that helps.

Can i do this without a craig jig .....like just screw in from the sides?

Of course you can. However, the Craig jig is used to hide the screws.
