Had done this exact thing with a pistol and felt mighty clever, 8” barrel and LAW folder. A large flash can also retained the handguard when broken down. The 16” barrel makes much more sense for this lol

Very close to the old Dolos AR-15 takedown kit, but being the blowback, much easier. I have the Gen 1 Dolos on one of my AR-15's. Very cool idea you bring to the table for the 9mm!

Exactly. With the Dolos and an AR15, you still have the gas tube exposed after breakdown, which is not ideal. AR9 eliminates that drawback.

To make something like this even better perhaps there might be a way to use the gas tube hole in the upper receiver to fit a detent. for a handguard or barrel nut.

Just a tip that I didn't see mentioned in this otherwise brilliant video. Make sure you lock back the BCG before seating the barrel and screwing on the handguard. Otherwise, bolt pressure from the buffer spring will tend to push the barrel out just a bit, which might lead to a not-so-nice day. Headspace is very unforgiving.

Not in my experience. 9mm blowback headspaces on the case mouth. Since it's not a locked breech system, as long as the barrel is installed properly and the barrel nut is tight, it doesn't seem to make any difference. But locking back the bolt won't hurt, either.

The ID of the Presma tube is 1.75". Practically any suppressor should fit in there.

Excellent idea, ordered a similar tubular guard and swap between an 8.5 inch and 16 inch barrel on numerous different receivers. Also figured a similar setup using the 4in mlock handguard with two tension screw setup for option of mounting front sight.

Here’s the thing… if your ar9 is longer I. Barrel length than 8 in you did something wrong. That defeats the whole purpose of the terminal ballistics of 9mm

True, 9mm's optimal "barrel length vs. velocity" ratio is around 8", but it still gains some velocity after that. Plus our patchwork of laws means "rifles" may be lawfully possessed/carried/allowed in some locations where "pistols" are not. This takedown idea works with "pistols" as well.
