Too much trouble making a DIY cooler with plastic storage box. Use Styrofoam box instead. Make 2 holes, one for inlet air (mini fan) and one for outlet air (a 3 inch pvc elbow would do) on the cover of the box. Put ice blocks inside and its done.

You can also use a little water pump and a couple misters on the side of the fan that's blowing the air. I was just at Universal Hollywood last week and that's more or less what they do. Except due tot he size, everything can be connected to permanent power and water.

I can see the steam of ice coming out of the fan. I doubt if the steam can condense on the fan wings and it can leak into the motor unit through the shaft of the fan wings. But nice work.

Yep, this definitely shouldn't ever be attempted, but double so without a GFCI circuit. It would be much better to use a battery powered pump and fan with the actual moisture being put in the path after the air exits the fan, not before.

@@lockandloadlikehell It's called heat rash and it probably means that the OP was in an area where there's too much humidity for this sort of thing to work. I used to live in South East Asia and heat rash is the absolute worse during the monsoon The sweat builds up too quickly to evaporate causing the sweat glands to get kind of clogged and you get red itchiness like everywhere.

All you’re missing is taking temperature without ice in the bucket and temperature after putting ice in the bucket and see the difference in the degrees the fan will cool you.

Não entendi porque encaixar o ventilador na tampa. Melhor seria fixar ele na tampa com alguma super cola, fita dupla face, ou até mesmo usando parafusos. Segundo ponto frágil desse projeto, é a caixa de plástico. Esse material troca calor com o ambiente, e a condensação faz o lado externo da caixa, suar. Uma caixa de isopr seria porfeita para o projeto. Mas ainda tem outro ponto que pode melhorar. O ventilador. Ele consome muito mais que duas ou três ventinhas (cooler) daquelas que se usa em gabinetes de pcs.

How to make you house more moist! This is not good. This is just opposite what you want to do because with this you cannot lower the temperature. Instead you should then lower the humidity inside the house.

Yes, these sorts of coolers really don't work very well if you have high humidity and they really shouldn't be used in confined spaces due to the risk of mold growth. However, an evaporative cooler can be extremely effective in dry areas with ventilation as they do have a natural area of effect and don't depend upon cooling the entire area. If you got to Universal Studios Hollywood, the air is pretty dry and they have some industrial sized coolers like this set up where you can quickly start to cool down if need be.

Probably for the same reason they are not already a popular item. Other than blowing a bit of cold air directly on the recipient for a minimal amount of time, that's all you'll get from them. So if you don't mind adding ice every 10 or 15 minutes, go for it....hope your ice maker can keep up. Now if one were to build a portable ice maker into such a unit (yes, consider that a challenge to the videos author and you may PayPal me my royalties if it takes off 😊), I would at least be interested in seeing how that would work out, otherwise, pretty impractical.
