How to Make simple Noise Maker (alarm device).
This DIY Noise Maker is very helpful if you don't have a buzzer. No need for additional electrical components & easy to make, no need for circuit (schematic) to build. You can use it for diy home security project or simular projects.
I used 3.7 volts cell phone battery for powering the device, if you use higher voltage, maybe you need add 2 - 10 ohms resistor sequentially.

wow that's so janky. I mean it's awesome, but you should rather glue a piece of metal plate to the membrane, cut the wire from the terminal and solder it to the plate, and let the screw touch that, as the wire will wear out rather quickly. also install a lock nut on the screw so the vibration won't mess up the adjustment. also, wouldn't using a relay work better? not to mention, much more reliable? just an idea

Hi Adam, I wonder if you could help me, I'm trying to develop a weighing scales that has a built-in max and minimum alarm. let me explain I'm in the process of setting up a weight loss business and I don't want my patients to be able to see their weight. Ideally what I want is for them to stand on the weighing scales and if they go over a preset maximum weight, an alarm will go off and similarly if they go below a preset weight an alarm will go off.

is it necessary to use a screw? why not simply connect both the wires?
@ElectricalPro
@ElectricalPro 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes, it is necessary. If you just connect a loudspeaker to DC power source it will not make any noise, the diaphragm of the speaker will move back or forward (depending on polarity), and will stay there till power is on, without any noise. But in the video, when power is on and diaphragm starts to move from the screw, it automatically disconnects speaker from power (it breaks the circuit), and diaphragm starts to move back, and when it moves back it will be connected to power again, and after that the diaphragm starts to move from the screw again. And this process repeats again and again, and that makes a lot of noise.

Connect a dc motor to the + wire to the speaker without doing this work
@ElectricalPro

Yes, I know this trick too ;) But with my method it produces much louder noise... although with a dc motor it probably will be more reliable.

If you just connect DC power supply to the speaker there will be no sound, but the diaphragm of the speaker will move (from or to the magnet) and stay there. But what happens if such movement will break the electric circuit? I'll tell... There will be what is called "feedback loop". In other words: when I connect this speaker to the battery, the diaphragm moves from the screw, and that movement disconnects the power source, and without the power, the diaphragm moves back and when it moves back it connects itself to the power source again, and this cycle repeats. Visa mindre 3 SVARA Rayk Dreisatz geht anders för 1 år sedan (redigerad) It's hard to believe you "are not dumb" when you don't get this simple concept. A speaker does not need AC to move because the suspension acts like a spring always bringing back the cone to it's initial position. Pulsing DC can make a speaker move. This is a simple electromechanical feedback oscillator. As the DC goes through the screw into the tinsel lead the cone travels forward, opening the curcuit by disconnecting the lead. Then the suspension pulls the cone back, attaching the lead to the screw again and the cicle repeats itself over and over. This way you're gonna get something between sawtooth and sine wave.
