I just bought a whole pile of photo paper at a garage sale. My boyfriend was like “what are you possibly going to do with that paper for your journals”? I told him, just you watch, someone will come up with a really cool idea and I’ll be ready. lol That’s exactly what happened. Love these so much. Thanks darling.

@@daniellehaggard7401yeah I'm that Aunt!!! Lol I'm The kind of mom/aunt/friend that purges😂😂. I'm very scared of being diagnosed with cancer and I'm putting off going to Dr to see until my daughter takes her boards this month. After That I will go to find out. But if i do I'm gonna have a craft and art and diy collection that takes up two entire rooms plus storage of supplies, not to mention wood (I'm also a diyer and love making decor or building things) that will have no where to go since my kids aren't into craft or art hobbies. I wanna find some people that are less fortunate but talented that my stuff (so many things brand new in box) can benefit and possibly make their life or their craft/possibly dream career possible! Idk where to even start to ask around if that happens. I don't want the task to have to be in my daughter's shoulders as losing me is her worst fear. I'm only 40 Andi have a plethora of health problems as is. Hence why allot of things are new. I have planners and planner supplies from 7-8 years ago and card stock, all kinds of paint and makers and pens and other mediums. Every glue you could imagine. From prayer crafting to construction grade for diys with wood and stuff. I have boxes of curs of wood in my storage room and shelves of glass vases and containers and decor. Journaling cards and papers and decoupage and clay and jewelry making, ribbon and faux greenery n florals and twine and fabric and tools/power tools, embellishments, ephemera, graphite pencils, oil pastels, watercolor, beads, yarn, spray paint, stamps, inks, mica, vinyl, iron on vinyl, washi tape, tape, notebooks, journals and planners, macrame, clay, moulds, metal wood and plastic blanks for Cricut diy decor. My Cricut which had only been used 4-5 times ever in the 3 years I've had it now. Etc etc etc. If anyone knows a good donation center that would come in and go thru and take away Thad stuff to donate after I'm gone (let's cross fingers I'm wrong. We just lost my mom to cancer not even three years ago and she was only 59. ) But please let me know your suggestions! ?? 🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@babethebuilder1 fenbendazole is an OTC antiparasitic that has been shown to effect cancer cells in lab mice. Take a look at the research. Also waiting won't improve your survival chances. Also, if it's a problem. Just box up what you aren't using in the next year and look into charities that can come and get it should you become to weak or painful to deal with it. I'm not sure what area you are in, so I cannot suggest specifics. Just mark them with what is in them.

If you want to “fix” those drip prints, you can use a small spray bottle to spray alcohol directly onto the finished prints. This will create a very interesting effect when the inks are reactivated and “bloom” where the tiny drops of alcohol hit.

Fun video! On the acetate sheet that was still sticky, try putting some of those transfer foils over the sticky parts and then peel away after rubbing them on. I've gotten some beautiful results that way. It looks like veins of metallic colors running through the colors.

What about doing the clear pocket trick and laminating them so the ink is between the acetate and the lamination pouch? Shouldn't squirt out the ends but you could use parchment paper to be sure. Or try a small section.

I use a blower tool by tim holtz because you definitely don’t want to breath in threw the straw, only out. The reason to use watercolour paper or photo paper is for the movement, so after you drop your drops onto the paper you then can drop alcohol on top for movement or more alcohol inks too. Your plain paper looked lovely but you can’t get the movement that way because it absorbs the colour. You can alcohol ink metal, glass vases, etc....nothing that you drink/eat off or out of. Lastly when you kept dropping the colours onto your smooshing mat, each colour kept reactivating the colours underneath it therefore making a whole different colour. Also with already made alcohol inks you need to seal it so the colour doesn’t fade but I’m sure making your own this way that may not happen because they’re markers...not sure. And the last thing off the top of my head is....you totally can use plain paper if you seal it with gesso or something like that, another thing you may want to try. Looks like you had a blast figuring lots out and they sure all look lovely! Thanks for your wonderful videos as always. Hugs from Ontario. Hope some of my ideas/advise are things that help you. None at all were meant to be rude, just to help you out. I’m sure you knew all of them just forgot to mention because it’s hard to remember to mention everything in your time. ;) all the best.

Thanks for all the ideas! I have done this in the past, but not for a while. I will pull them out again! I bought a set of new markers to do this so I would have the whole rainbow of colors and put them in dropper bottles. If they dry out, you just add more alcohol. Got tons of photo paper at the thrift store as well. Blowing with a straw creates some nice patterns. You are a great teacher and it's nice that you take us along with your experiments, even if they do not turn out the way you think!

Ive been doing this for years now, I use 99% isopropyl alcohol... and a tub, from the dollar store... that my sheets of paper fit in.... and I use cheap markers... brand new, for best color... and voila, I have beautifully colored papers in my journals..I used little spray bottles and sprayed it on... and yes, I did it outside.. . I can color coordinate everything in it... and I use a sheet at the end, to mop up the colored juice in bottom of my tub when I am done each color... No waste :)) I place stencils on them as they dry, so they form patterns... easy peasy!! :)) Miss Natasha, there was no fails in those ones you made, everything was gorgeous!!! Add some black stamping... etc... they were all quite nice !! there was nothing there I didnt like!!

This is a wonderful way to use something that would otherwise be thrown out. If you put some scrunched, painted tissue paper, or a piece of aluminium foil that has been scrunched up and then opened out again behind the sticky side of the acetate piece, it may be easier to use, you can seal it with a thin layer of glue, or an acrylic medium that dries clear and use it as a layering piece. I made some cards that way a while ago, it works well with rubber stamps on acetate as well.

IT IS INSANE & AMAZING THAT YOU MADE THOSE WITH HOMEMADE ALCOHOL INKS. I’ve been practicing with store bought ones & neither what I’ve made nor honestly even most of the ones people show online look that good. Yours have such a textural intensity & strong pigmentation amazing. Just be VERY careful messing with methylated spirits; literal poison. I’d wear a respirator even if I’m working outdoors with such toxic stuff. Methylated alcohol, epoxy resin- some things you shouldn’t take any chances with. Also, I will mention since you didn’t mention it- one very good, FAR cheaper alternative to Yupo paper is the white opaque “craft plastic” you can get on Amazon & probably at some arts/crafts or perhaps even fine arts supply stores. As you suspected, Yupo is quite expensive, almost like cotton watercolor paper or something… Whereas you can get 25 big sheets of craft plastics (for small post-card sized sheets I’d cut one of these into 1/4ths, so a pack of 25 can go a long way) for like $8-11… And with 25 sheet packs, even if you use them whole to make BIG compositions it’s a solid deal & will have you stocked up for a while for so cheap. Plus, they’re even more durable than Yupo (probably photo paper as well, being solid plastic the thickness of a notecard), & they wipe completely clean back to white, assuming you don’t use some especially crazy staining color- cleaning off much more effectively than Yupo paper, which means if you make a mistake or create something you don’t like, getting back to a clean sheet to start over is as simple as dumping a little isopropyl alcohol on the sheet & wiping it off almost as smoothly as a dry erase board. Overall I’m very happy with them for alcohol inks (they don’t take gouache or watercolor as well as they claim, but I wouldn’t expect them too anyway- though I am kind of curious to do an acrylic pour on one & see how durable it ends up & whether there are any issues there). Anyway, I’ve been buying up some relatively old alcohol ink markers that are on clearance all the time at Michael’s (like $0.60 for what used to be $5-6 each markers! I couldn’t resist grabbing a bunch), so now I know how I’ll be using those. Most of them still draw, so I’ll use them up a bit more first, but I think I can do more interesting art by making alcohol ink from them if the results are anything like yours. 🤩

I laughed so hard at your orange "hairball", lol. That was funny. I did this back when pandemic had started and I couldn't find any kind of rubbing alcohol anywhere. Hubby spent 4 dollars on a bottle for me. Good grief he would die if had to spend that now.

This is great. I’ve been holding on to plain photo paper and you’ve given me the perfect thing to do with them. Plus the tutorial for homemade ink is amazing. 😊 I’m currently working on two bachelors degrees and have been throwing out all my dried up highlighters. 😮 I won’t be doing that anymore. 😉

Going to stop throwing away those dried up markers. Love the way you process things, and always clearly demonstrated and explained. Thank you.

You should try it on your gelli plate. I drop it on and let it dry, then use a layer of acrylic to pull the print. It is beautiful!

Good Day Natasa!! W@W!!! BRILLIANT PROJECT (S)! I happen to have some glossy 4 x 6 photo cards I'd been planning to experiment with using regular drawing or writing inks, but as yet not gotten around to! Then,, I had been saving some dried out markers thinking how could I revive them over the years and THAT too went on the back burner..UNTIL * NOW*!!! HUGS & KISSES THANKS!! 👍🙏🎨✍🌹💐🎶! I can't wait to do this! By the way, those two tags you deemed ' fails' , look AWESOME imho!!! All came out grest!! Wish I had a die cut machine or access, but maybe someday. School library has some but geared to kids and they ( dies) are too large for the 4x6 sizes. I so enjoy you animated dialogue and outlook on your creative process! Have a Blessed Day, Every Day!! 💖 🙋🏻‍♀️ Mindi USA.

Hey Mindi, I’ve seen videos on KZbin how to die cut & emboss (embossing folders) without a machine… people have so many amazingly creative ideas

@Vicky-Maree Wurst.. Hi Vicky! Do you know of any sites that show how? I know there are hand embossing tools, like brass templates that you can hand emboss.. I'm looking to heat emboss and wonder what best products are..? I bought a clear Stamp pad from Hobby Lobby and it didn't work! Unless it was the emboss powder.. All that stuff So Pricey, and some so shoddy.. I'm going to try adding watered down vegetable glycerin to the ink pad and see.saw that on KZbin for hand lettering ( with nib)embossing..Cool! Thanks and Happy Crafting Bliss! 🤗🙋🏻‍♀️🙏 - Mindi

That’s a video to cold emboss & die cut without a machine m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqinhWppesx0rMk ----- How to make ephemera really quickly & bulk amounts m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/joGpfHWmeKZ4has ---- I’ve used plastic stencils in the past to do a similar look to embossing folders by having two of the same designs and putting the paper in between them both. You can use some tape to hold them together so they don’t move. Then use a small stylus to go into the grooves. I watch heaps of KZbin videos and then see if I like the person’s technique and how they present it too, if I like their technique and how they share it, then I’ll check out their channel and other videos, which often then links me to more ideas & more people demonstrating what they’ve got to share. Hope this has been helpful?

Yeah that’s unfortunate that the stamp pad didn’t work 🥴😔 can you take it back & tell them? I’ve heard the same about vegetable glycerin too. I Google in KZbin by putting DIY in front of what I like to find out about, soooooo many hours have gone into watching. I’ve now got in my notes on my phone, a folder for favorites so I can go back over the ideas, techniques & tips that I get a lot out of. Happy crafting 🫶🦋

I've done lots of fun art with alcohol ink. If you use the back of the photo paper with the ink and spray a little 99% alcohol onto the ink it will bloom. You can then move the ink while wet all around with a blow dryer or air artist brush. You can then doodle on them, etc...just have fun with it.
