Great video. The tires do need to be off the ground. So when you adjust the toe. They are able to move freely. You can also roll the car back and forth after you adjust. So the tires can settle in there place. The toe might still be off tie you do that.
@Garagecouple4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Thats a good way to do it. You can also do it with tires on the ground, and then go for a drive and do it again. Thanks for the insight! Cheers!

Great video guys!!! I do my own alignment on my CJ by marking the tires and a long rod across the tires to measure the toe. Your method is great too. If you want some suggestion for your next alignment. Lift the frontend slightly off the ground. It should take little to no effort twisting the tie rod. The way you did it, You’re having to move the tires with all the weight of the vehicle. Lifting the front end off the ground won’t affect your measurements. Also on another note. Going off road is a big thing for Jeep owners but not everyone can afford a rubicon so one affordable way to rubiconize your open diff Jeep is to install a Lunch Box Locker. They’re super affordable and look to be like a very nice upgrade to make your Jeep that much better. Let me know, we can use my CJ 😂. Keep up the great work guys.

Awesome suggestion! Appreciate your time and help! Yes! We actually have an extra set of lunchbox lockers for the front d30 but ended up selling the jeep before we could install it

Garage Couple What!? You have a spare set of lunch box lockers for a d30? I’ve done some research on these and found there’s a few different brands. Are you selling? Where are you located?

You two are so much fun, it's great to see a couple of goofballs just having a great time and enjoying this..! Just a heads up, after you have completed a wrenching project, the term used to check everything you have done is "nut and bolt"... I completed the lift, but I still need to nut and bolt it. I totally dig you guys, and I'm now a life long subscriber with 5 past Jeeps, a current Hummer, and a recently purchased TJ because the Hummer is leaving, awesome Karma out to you guys..!

I've seen a bunch of different ways to do that but that is certainly a new way with the thumb tacks it looks a lot easier I normally use a level and bungee cord it to the tire.

A bit of advice start looking into a track bar, drag link and tie rod. Those tires are heavy so they will wear on those parts. Just did mine this week. WORLD of difference. The thing drives like a car after the steering kit and shocks

I never thought of doing thumbtacks for measurements. That is a great idea haha. Eventually, I'll be picking up another youtuber's tool for doing an alignment (if you want, I can mention their name in a follow up comment), but I think for now I'll use tacks!

Just curious - what is the difference between stock ( ground to skid plate ) vs lifted ( ground to skid plate ) those tires are nice I'm looking to pick up a set of 37" on beadlocks for one of my YJ's
@Garagecouple4 жыл бұрын
We can measure it for you soon. Not sure about stock but its a huge difference. Can almost sit upright under it now.

Since you gouged up the tie rod bars in adjusting the tires did you repaint them to prevent rusting?

A friend just bought a 2012 JK and I've been trying to explain to him to install steering and track bar reinforcement kinda like this. I know Marco's Jeep at OverlandX has this JK upgrade and highly advise everyone else to do the same. I've seen too many Jeeps stranded offroad when their steering breaks. I was thinking you should make a JK version video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJTLd4V9gLWMbLM
