This tutorial is amazing! Made a fantastic kigu myself instead of shelling out over a hundred dollars for a made one. A few quick tips for people starting out 1. trace your pattern onto every piece, since your making up your seam allowance you need to have the patterns lines to match up each piece, or create your own notch system to line them up. 2. the most time consuming part by far is handsewing the buttons and buttonholes, personally I think it's cute, but honestly if your not that attached to the aesthetic a zipper or velcro does the job soo much faster. 3. zig-zag stitching the excess fabric is actually really important, makes your seams so much stronger, so I do not recommend you skip that. otherwise I hope everything works out :)

For a first timer this is a really good tutorial! I’m making myself a Garfield Kigurumi for an upcoming convention and I like this pattern a lot. I’m of course gonna tweak a few things here and there to make it Garfield but other than that thank you for this tutorial! I’m not the best at making my own patterns so this helps tremendously out of all the other kigurumi vids I’ve watched

If you don't have a baggy hoodie just measure your arm thickness on the three main points( wrist-elbow& fore arm) (you can do in between depending on your build) and add approx 4 inches(for bag and stitch allowance.

It would probably be easier to sew the face and ears on before you put in the lining of the hoodie. Not saying you did anything wrong, but it just might be easier so you don't need to worry about accidentally sewing anything to the lining. o3o

It's very simple ^^ You lay down the inside hood on your table the good way. this means the seam is on the outside. Then you take the outside hoodie with the good side out. Like when you have a face on your hood you are able to see this face. Then you put the outside hoodie into the inside hoodie and you pin them together and sew. After that you turn the thing inside out and then the inner hoodie is inside and the outer hoodie out ^^ After that you can sew it to your kigurumi ^^ Hope this helps

In addition to what Helen said, sometimes you can't find one that fits an idea you have in your head... Plus, even if kigurumi are very forgiving, pattern-wise, there's just something nice in wearing something you made especially for yourself.

Yes that is very normal ^^ Since the back of your shoulder is longer than the front. You have to divide the fabric of you sleeve to the sleeve hole ^^ This is what I've learned in class.

You just put the wrong sides together (the insides no one will see) and sew only (for this kigurumi) the blue parts together. Then like she said, just fold under the raw edges of the lining (polka dots) and sew that straight down. Just pin it like you think it should be and then hold it up before sewing to make sure it will look ok before actually sewing it. I have been sewing for forever and still have to double check my stuff before I sew it :) I'm sure yours will turn out great :)

Nice tutorial ^^ Okay I´m not a pro when it comes to sewing etc. But 1 inch for the side steams is too much! You only need one cm or maybe 1.5 cm if you use a overlock sewing mashine for the side seams. And folks the ruler knows it always better!!! So first measure the side steams A-L-W-A-Y-S with a ruler!!! And do not forget to wash and ironing the fabric first before cutting and sewing it!

I just want to give you a advice I am a beginner as well and what you did was awesome but when you put the elastic in maybe leave a gap between the stitches on the arm and legs then put the elastic in sew the gap. Just a word of advice \^•^/
