Not understanding what she is doing here the book is not antiqued. To achieve the look of an antique book you start with actually distressing the book: 1) Sand off the gold lettering old books labeled horizontal, therefore, remove the lettering 2) Bang the spine and edges against hard surface indenting the book 3) boil water add to tea bags allow the tea to seep 2-3 minutes 4) with small brush proceed to "paint" the book with the tea 5) use the tea on through ought the book going into the pages painting every 20-25 pages 6) when the pages are wet "Jab" the pages with your fingers giving the puff affect Depending on what kind of book your trying to achieve you can stop here or take light gold run the seems of the pages (books were for the wealthy they were gold trimmed pages) do this very lightly. You can step it up place desired name of book on the spine (horizontal) and author. There is also technique of faux leathering books using tissue paper and mod podge lots of interesting ways to age books while bringing the art of book binders art to life via faux techniques. No paints will give the aged affect on books look carefully at aged book pictures (real ones) study their color, texture, the pages and copy that with the aforementioned affect.
