What type of paint did you use???

Simple and easy tutorial. For the colour paint, is it solvent based or water based?
@LazyGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Water based paint and stain is what I used.

What type of paint did you use for this simple project? Also can you use sand paper? Steph......

Great job. As I can see you used minwax jacobean stain. What piece of wood you worked on it? Looks like Maple? Is it going to be same result on ash wood?
@LazyGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
The wood is just good old, cheap, big box store bought pine! Personally, if i'm using a premium wood like Maple for a build, I skip the antiquing technique and use something like Rubio Monocoat "pure" or a tinted color to bring out the woodgrain.

Thanks for the video! Does it matter what type of paint...oil based, or latex based?
@LazyGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
I'd stay away from oil based paints and use latex. Just because most of the stains you'd use over top are water base as well.

great i like it the most of all the videos here on yt of this kind. I would just like to ask, I live in a country where the Minwax brand that you use in this video cannot be found. Do you know if it would be possible to use an oil other than this one? maybe restoration oil for wood or something like that to have the same result? thanks:) and also can this oil or another be used for chalk paint?
@LazyGuyDIY Жыл бұрын
really any stain should work, if you have access to water based stain that would be best compared to oil based. Also, the paint type doesn't matter as much as it does to sand it to distress it. Especially get the edges and then the stain darkens the look.

What was that turquoise color. I just cant find. I get home is is to Caribbean or to mint. Driving me bonkers
@Anonymous-li8jm2 жыл бұрын
Do you need to polyurethane it once completed to protect?
@LazyGuyDIY2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the stain you use, a lot of the varathane or min-wax stains are stain and poly. In that case, no.

Can you go ahead and paint and stain then sand?
@LazyGuyDIY6 жыл бұрын
Nope, you need to sand in between the painting and staining. The good news is you don't need total coverage of paint, actually, the worse the paint job, the better the look since you're going to be sanding away the paint in order to give the stain areas to soak into. You can start sanding and staining as little as 10-15 minutes after you apply paint as long as it's dry.

Any color stain will work?
@LazyGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Yep, just make sure it's dark enough to contrast with your wood color.

Although your mom had an obvious influence, the greatest factor that influenced your good character was genetics. The second greatest factor was the peer group and friends you chose during your formative years. The third factor is the choices you make on a daily basis to do the right thing. A distant factor is probably parental influence. Kind of counter intuitive but perhaps closer to truth. (read the nurture assumption and get back to me)

This looks terrible, sanding something with a cheesy “farm house distressed vintage look” is HARDLY antique.
@jeffveron8783 Жыл бұрын
Actually, this looks beautiful. Which is why I have come to KZbin for help. What I’ve noticed with every wood worker is how upright and cocky they are. Their sense of humor is as dry as their oak boards sitting on the shelf, further drying out. Why? Why are most wood workers so absolutely dry and boring and think they are better than anyone else? Go get drunk. Have a great time. Do something other than cut others down.
