Light screen prices are criminal aren't they. This one came up pretty good though for a first run! The trick is to run the LEDs all the way around the rim though to get really even light. You crashing sound effect scared the crap out of me as well! aahahahahah

They're just stupid expensive, almost made me rage when I saw the prices 😅. I'll definitely do a version 2 for this at some point. At the moment, I'm happy with it.. not too strong and distracting. (Sorry about the crashing, lol)

@@HobbyScapesHQ I think you nailed the framing for the light screen! I would do the exact same thing. When you do decide to make another one. Grab an ARGB strip light they allow you to customise each section of the strip so you can get that gradual fading effect like the professional ones. You could set the top to white the bottom to blue then half way up wither side a gradual colour shift. I'm using a strip above my Vampire crab paludarium to get a nice natural evening glow. It works really well.

I didn't know about ARGB strips... I had a look now, and they look great. Definitely will pick one up to play around with it. Thanks

@@HobbyScapesHQ No problem! I find the Govee ones the best of the bunch. I was using the suepr cheap strips for a while but they are garbage and failer really easily. I also suggest making sure whatever you get has a dedicated whtie light! Don't get the ones that mix colours to get white!

Thank you! I'm happy with how it turned out... not too strong to distract from the tank, but enough to make it a little more interesting 🙂

The design can be improved, but I think it's a good baseline to build on. Let me know how it goes for you.

Brilliant, my tanks are over 78 inches long and I saw the back lighting and priced it premade and it’s insane but I can do this for way cheaper
@HobbyScapesHQ28 күн бұрын
They're very unreasonably priced. You can even improve on what I've done here. I'd probably do a thin box next time with the leds going all the way around

@@HobbyScapesHQYeah that's a great idea for the next video , no one should be charged several hundred dollars for exactly what you have made and I think it's a great job for your 1st attempt x 💲😎

All of my tanks are backlit. I almost feel like it's not a tank without it.

I agree with you. They do look great . I feel like the "brand" ones are way too overpriced... so, for the moment, DIY is the way for me... not gonna compete with those, but will do the trick for me
