A few weeks ago, I had the exact same symptoms and didn’t know what to do. This video, the link to the DieselGeek site, and the bushing kit saved my 2002 Audi TT. Thank you.

Doing this job today, great write-up. All I can add is that there is a cable bushing that goes on the bottom of the first gear getter L bracket. Installing the busing is easy enough but reinstalling the retainer clip is hard. I placed the retainer clip into a open ended 13mm wrench which held it snugly, then I was able to press it onto the end very easily. Also, drill the hole on the passenger side, it makes like so much easier.

Imagine doing this without the car being a convertible *This message is brought to you by the roadster gang*

Had exactly the same issue. Thanks for posting the video. Wierd how it seems to “fix” itself and then break again.

Hi ! It’s my turn on my 225 bam coupé. And yes also stucked in second gear. I wondered why especially it was this gear. Happened when shifting from 5 to 6 or the opposite, I don’t recall. So, just ordered a set at Dieselgeek. Have to drill, and hoping it will not be to tough to work on . Thanx for your vid ;)

@@anygiventrail Ok,thanx ! I have received the Dieselgeek bushings, bought a metal drill, etc … Btw, what is the size of the side hole I have to drill ?
@renedewael97032 жыл бұрын
Finaly did it ! Drilling, new bushing. Only the front/rear one, for the other was fine, and a lot tricky to undoing because of his design. But anyway, gear moving is so smooth now. Since years de 2 began to be difficult, and now I know why : bushing disintegrate step by step. So absolutly a thing to do ;)

I seem to be having a similar issue but I have a base 180hp fwd tt with the 5 speed and I was wondering do I get the same Audi tt bushings or do I need to get the mk4 bushing kit on dieselgeek
@anygiventrail10 ай бұрын
I’d give them a call to ask and double check, but sounds like you can get the mk4 kit.

I removed the center console by removing the trim that goes all the way up in the Forward part of footwell. Didn’t need to remove rear speaker trim

Hi I had the same problem with my audi tt. Do i need to slide the rod on the bell crank after I attach it to the bushing on the shifter? I finally have 1-6th gears but no reverse. Was thinking I probably need to push the rod at the bottom on to the L bracket bell crank? Is there anyway we can chat?

I just experienced this problem last weekend hoping this is the cure! Initially I was having trouble going into 6th gear, and when I was coming to a red light from leaving the interstate I put my car in to neutral where I then coasted down to a stop, I tried to put it in first and it was going into 3rd, where 3,4,5 were fine and it went into reverse no problem. If anyone has suggestions please feel free to comment.

@@npofosho (this is my video btw) try shifting your car and watching the top of the transmission to see if it moves. If it doesn’t, it’s probably broken.
