Dude, I watched this ENTIRE video as I laid in bed here in my Tennessee fish camp waking up this morning. It was a great video in my mind because, while I have no intention of building a live well like that, it kept me captivated with the process. It was well edited and well put together. Let me say this; if you can crank out the content your channel will blow up. Good stuff. Impressed.

Man, I love your videos! I am a DIYer and enjoy seeing solutions that others have come up with. I actually made one of these, with PVC rod holders, a few years ago. It served as my live well whenever I fished from my plastic pontoon (Bass Hunter) boat. I never considered using it for minnows in my bass boat. It's sitting in the back of my shed. Think it's about time to pull it out again. Thanks for the tip.

Great idea, I have a similar system. To keep them alive at home or in the truck I use a drop in aquarium filter. It provides physical filtration as well as a carbon cartridge to remove ammonia build up. I’ve been known to save bait all week for the next fishing trip. I would seal up that hole in your cooler with some silicone. Water gets in there you’ll have a fun time getting it out.

Cool boxes make great bait wells. We use sand eel as bait here and it is much more lively if the water is cool so an ice pack thrown in keeps that water cool for a long time.👍

Great DIY! Since I'm only using it to transport bait from the minnow/perch traps to the trotline, don't need the insulation of the cooler. Instead I used a rectangular cat litter bucket (Tidy Cat brand). It has a hinged lid and one portion opens up to get to the perch and the other side stays secured. I ran the air hose line through the top portion that stays secured and cut a hole for the clip through the side rails that hold the handle. I have two different size buckets: 27lb bucket (11" tall) that I use in my sit-in kayak and 35lb. bucket (15" tall) that I use in my jon boat. Only cost was the Bubble Box. Definitely a cheap build and Wife Approved!

That is a great idea. Going to make one. For those hot days, You can drill about three holes in the inside of the lid and fill it with spray foam. There is no insulation in the lids. Just air space. Will make a difference.
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I seen ppl do that . I just use mine to keep my blue gill alive till I go fishing . Sometimes I go catch some at a small pond near the house then I use em for catfish bait . It also makes a great minnow bucket though

I use a 10 gallon water cooler. Put a thru hull bilge discharge connector in the side up top. And one in the lid. I put a temperature logger in it for a weekend. Started water temp at 72. At end of 95 degree day water temp was only 76. A couple pounds of ice is all it takes to keep it at a safe temp. Just be sure to not drink the water. Also I did try one of them water pump style aerators, that was a no go. They will bring water temp to over 105 over night.
@daviddodd76825 жыл бұрын
I'd add double sided velcro to the pump to keep it from bouncing/making noise while underway. But that's just my OCD. Great video!
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
Lol OCD you funny . I did put it on the very first one I made but a stopped after I made a few of em , i found it stayed on better if i made the slit in the back tighter . But that's still a good idea brother i should have added that lol i appreciate your input buddy thank you
@pakde80024 жыл бұрын
Just stick some foam rubber from a pool toy or old flip-flops with double sided tape on the lower portion of the back panel below the clip...it will hold it in place but still be able to take it off easily for battery replacement.

@@FishinNStuff Just watched it - that is a nice one for sure. Then I got to thinking (uh-oh). I'm wondering if that might be good for keeping all those minnows I bring back home with me; just wondering how to keep them alive for the next fishing trip. I'm wondering if that would work for maintaining minnows for 10-12 days or so. If so, then I would also need to find something to feed them, maybe from the aquarium center at Walmart or the pet store. I know they have fish food for exotic fish, but if I fed "exotic" fish food to minnows, then would they become to "high-on-the-hog" to catch crappie or bass or big bream?
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
I would ask the ppl that sell em if they feed em and what , also you could put the pump in a plastic bowl with a lid on it and drill holes in it then stuff pillow batting in the box si as it recirculated the water would get filtered as well
