This was excellent. I appreciate you sharing your experience and design ideas with us. I will now build with extruded aluminum. Also thank you for mentioning McMaster-Carr. Great assist for material gathering.

Thank you very much for that in depth explanation. I have researching galore and no one goes into that detail, appreciate it alot. I am was thinking about welding one but playing around the idea of 8020 or tslot extrusion slider but everyone over complicates the sliding portion of it. This came out awesome and will definitely use this to build something similar for my jeep. Much appreciated!!

Thank you very much for all the details you covered. I have been designing one for my needs (traveling mechanic) and there were some ideas I may use. I really like the idea of a lock pin, as I never know where I may be working.

This is awesome. Been looking for a build like this. Lots of inspiration here. Thanks

I use the anchor fasteners for the corners. It requires only the tightening of one bolt. McMaster Carr sells them

I would pay you for a sketch or drawing showing the arrangement of the sliders, wheels, track, etc. a cutaway drawing would work, viewed from the end. Thanks!

The best feature is the low deck height. Most off-the-shelf products compromise 3 or 4 inches if they are rated for any significant weight capacity.

Thanks for sharing, super cool! Thinking of building something similar for my E350 van. Is that drawer full extension? Can you share some links on where you got your 8020 materials, connectors, etc. Specifically what you used for bearings and rail that they slot into. Also if you could list sizes of 8020 and where you used. I think you touched on briefly, I probably just need to watch again. Thanks!

Yeah, the drawer slides are 'full extension'. The upper drawers have 48" slides on them, but the lower slide dog-legs around the wheel well, so it only has a 22 or 24" slide. The prices and shipping vary over time. I got most of my extrusions and fittings from Mcmaster.com. But you should price things out with shipping at tslots.com, grainger.com, 8020.net. Three sides of the slide itself are 1530. If you wanted to save weight, you could change this to 1030 and it would be almost as strong but a lot lighter. The rest of the build is 10 series. Mostly 1010. If I were to build again, I would use 1020 for both the upper and lower inboard rails (I only used it for the top rail).

Thanks for the detail. Going to build something similar for my F150 and GFC. Like you I am optimizing around sport item storage rather than kitchen and camp gear. I am looking for alternate ways of joining the 80/20 besides those corner brackets. Any idea on the weight before the bed slide?
@warrenhunts2 жыл бұрын
Not sure on total weight but in an F150 I would definitely use "1030" profile for the slide rather than "1530" like I did.

Great video. What size bearings did you use and where did you source them from. Keep up the great work
@warrenhunts2 жыл бұрын
I used McGill bearings rather than knock offs. I got them from amazon, but I think both Mcmaster & Grainger sell McGill. On the truck I used McGill CYR1 1/2S Cam Yoke Roller. But You could buy similar that are smaller diameter for a lower deck height. Just make sure the load capacity is sufficient for your needs. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0071AQE6Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On the forward part of the bed slide I used "McGill CF1 3/8 Cam Follower". I don't see them on Amazon right now.

Hey any update from February on how the transmission is or what the problem was?!? Thank you!

How is the build going?

I watched your long term ownership on TFL about the gas 250. I was curious if you found out the issue on the transmission issues? I feel like ford always has these issues
@warrenhunts Жыл бұрын
Yes, Ford fixed it under warranty. It was a design issue in the valve control body that has been fixed, and mine was fixed with the updated part. It took a month to get the appointment, and then my truck was at the dealer for another month. But transmission has been good since. I've put another 20k miles on it since then.

Can we get links to the parts ?

Probably too late for you, but I updated the description with part numbers & links. I bought mine on amazon, but it seems they're no longer sold there.
