THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEED! I also have to grow berries (and everything) above ground with hardware cloth below because of gophers. This is precisely what I was looking for without knowing what I was looking for 😂I plan to upgrade to the Birdies over the next couple of years as well.

Very informative!! Some of the pieces I didn't know existed would have come in handy for me on another project. Just a little self help idea.. I slide a screwdriver in the eye hooks to tighten them.

Haven't planted the blueberries yet, contemplating on planting them in pots or in a raised bed. I really love your setup.

It likely depends on how much space you have to spare but blueberries would probably do best in raised beds. Although, we did have one in a half wine barrel at our previous property that did fairly well. Have fun growing!

Three per bed, and each bed is just under 9 feet long - so they're spaced about 2.5 feet apart

Finally, every video I've looked at so far has impossibly heavy fence posts and uses cement. There's no reason somebody has to cement posts into their garden, not to mention the hassle of getting 50lb bags of cement in and out of your car and the difficulty of removing the posts if you ever need to. You're much better off digging the holes and securing the posts with a few bags of stone pebbles if you don't want to use the metal posts.

What flowers are planted below the berry beds?

We planted some annual marigolds and zinnia for this season as the berries were small when we planted them. However, the berries filled in really well during the rest of the year so we likely won't have as much space going forward as the berries mature.

Do your berries have thorns? If not are they a GMO?

Our olallieberries have thorns but berry bushes that are thornless are not GMO, most varieties have been bred over time to get rid of this trait.

Yes just because they have good characteristics doesn’t mean they are gmo. GMO products are created in a lab. If a mutation occurs in nature, the plants can be bread over time to keep the good traits, such as variegated leaves.
