DIY Bluetooth Speaker made from a cooler. You can DO this!

Step by step instructions for how to make your own bluetooth speaker. Parts required:
Cooler: Igloo Profile 16 quart Cooler (Other coolers will work, but they must have flat sides so the speakers sit flat against the outside surface).
Subwoofer: BOSS Audio Systems CXX8 8 Inch Car Subwoofer - 600 Watts Maximum Power, Single 4 Ohm Voice Coil
Speakers: BOSS Audio Systems CH5530 5.25 Inch Car Speakers - 225 Watts of Power Per Pair, 112.5 Watts Each
Circuit board/Amp: AOSHIKE DC12V-24V 2.1 Channel TPA3116 Subwoofer Amplifier Board High Power Bluetooth Audio Amplifier Board 50W+50W+100W (Bluetooth Amp)
Battery: TalentCell Rechargeable 72W 100WH 12V/8300mAh 9V/11000mAh 5V/20000mAh DC Output Lithium ion Battery Pack with AC/DC Charger
Speaker wire: 18 ga. available at most hardware/electronics stores.
Subwoofer screen: Parts Express Steel Mesh 2-Piece Grill for 8" Speaker
Screws, spacers, solder, etc.
Nylon wire clips: Adjustable Cable Clips, 3M-Adhesive Nylon Cable Clamps Wire Clips with Optional Screw Mount for Wire and Cable Management

I'm watching because I own the cooler and use it for a lunch box. I see why it stays cold it's insulated, which is good to know. Some are just hollow. I'm not going to butcher my cooler, but thanks for the video.

Thank you for the really solid how-to. Most are not nearly as good. Love this build, bought all the stuff, and am going to try and recreate next weekend. Quick questions: did/do you need to use any connectors to connect the speaker wire to the small blue screw terminal blocks? Second: I don't have a soldering iron. What would be the next secure best way to connect the sub (which has screw style terminals) I was thinking a ring terminal? Last Q: is 18 gauge wire enough for the sub as well? thank you!!!

Sorry for the late reply. No connectors needed to connect the speaker wires to the blue terminal blocks. I did twist them up and put a drop of solder on them just to avoid fraying. For my sub, it had a spade-type terminal that I soldered the wire on to. A ring connector crimped onto the wire end should certainly work. The 18 gauge wire has performed well for me.

Is your lid vibrating alot? And how does it sound? I did a build with the same cooler but I put two 4' in the front and two 4' in the back and one 5.5' on each side. I wish it had more bass though. Maybe I'll build another idk

Yeah, my lid vibrates a little too, so I put some small rubber cabinet bumpers on it where it closes and that helped. The 8-inch subwoofer really thumps, so if you make another I recommend a subwoofer somewhere in the build.

How long does the battery last at 80%-100% volume? Also how is the Bass? Pretty deep low bass?

It will last several hours playing pretty loud. With the 8-inch subwoofer the bass is really good, especially using a cooler instead of other thinner-walled enclosures.

is that amp blue tooth and you just plug in the equalizer thru the amp?

The circuit board/amp is bluetooth, so your phone will 'see' it in the bluetooth settings and you can connect to it. The circuit board also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for input if you want, but I just use the bluetooth connection.

Depends on the voltage you're pulling. Mine typically lasts for 8-10 hours of constant use. Battery: 12V/8300mAh; 9V/11000mAh; 5V/20000mAh DC Output

Sub should always be separate from the coaxials/mids otherwise the sub will distort the sound from coaxials.

Well, yeah, but the idea is the have a one-box portable speaker. If you're at the beach or lake pounding the brewskies no one is going to critique the distortion. 😁
