My tip: paint your battens when they are full pieces. You can fly through it. Then, cut and nail to the wall. You'll only have touch-up work with paint. It's way easier than painting all the hard-to-get-to nooks and crannies once it's up. You also don't have to mess with painting along the floor.

Looks great. In the future, you can avoid the problem with the trim being thicker than the door and window casing by installing backbanding around the door and window trim. The board and batten trim will die right into the backbanding and looks beautiful. Agree with you about avoiding glue all over the walls. Also, I remember caulking a project like this. It did take FOREVER, but it looks amazing when you're done.

yeah I've never understood the need for adhesive on the planks in a non-bathroom!

I'm putting board and batton in my bathroom renos. For my master, I had them do 48". I thought that was good with 8 ft. ceilings. it's too low. I'm not going to ask them to re-do, it was my mistake. However, my 2nd bath, I'd like it taller, but I don't know what is a good height. What would you recommend? or anyone who's reading this. I'm leaning towards 60" that would be the top of the horizontal board. That said, what a massive difference it makes in any room. I'm thrilled.

You can add more batten above it. Just extend it higher. I see board and batten with cross pieces near the top all the time.

@ true that and it’s a good look. However after about 24 hours I paid extra to have them raise it to 5’. I love it.

Isn’t painting over your outlet a fire hazard? The result is stunning❤
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog3 ай бұрын
I am not an electrician, but these outlet covers are intended to be paintable and they go over the receptacle so probably not?

You always do such nice work. I love how you explain everything so simply but thoroughly. In the US, caulk is pronounced with the “L” being silent like walk.

You're lucky those walls weren't bumpy.
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog3 ай бұрын
They weren’t textured, but they did need a lot of skim coating from nail pops I fixed and the drywall damage. It would’ve been a similar amount of work to skimcoat the whole wall from texture.
@ryanwolner8527Ай бұрын
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog or could you just sand the texture smooth? Or is this the harder way to go?
