Many thanks. Had mine break last December. Got replacements from "TwoRUs," great service. Recommend replacing both.

What shifter cables do you prefer? I noticed tcs motorsports sells them also. And even primemr2 has them available.

Where do you adjust the shifter? Mine is too foward and won't go into 3rd and 5th. 2nd and 4th looks like the shifter is in the neutral position

I've tried just about every option and combo for short/drop/bearing/base that exists for aw's and sw's ... While a lot of it is preference, I have found the best engagement and comfort setup for me has been with a drop plate, solid aluminum bushing, oem shift cables with rollerblade bearings on the linkage. my sw has a round linkage pin bearing instead of the oem square one and I am looking forward to getting it the hell outta there and putting a square one back in. Yes this setup feels more "notchy" and a little less smooth but offers real solid engagement. I am very much NOT a fan of the helicals, maybe in a custom swap setup where you need the extra angle but in a standard(ish) setup they give too much play. I run an e153 in my sw and a c56 in my aw.

Do you use the skateboard bearing only for the front to back cable like the mr2 wiki or do you have them on both cables?
@DeftAnesthetik3 жыл бұрын
@@vipercrazy-9 I've always done both. Worth experimenting with come summer though.

What about adjustments to the shifter? How do you adjust the shifter cable? Or is it one setting only?

Thanks for the vid bob. I have a grind going down from 4th to 3rd only. I just had the trans rebuilt with new syncros etc less than 1000 miles ago. Replaced shifter plate bushings, installed spherical bushings, removed a drop plate, tightened springs and just today replaced the square bushing which was very worn. My shifter cables look fairly new. Brainstorming for ideas because i cant imagine irs the brand new syncros that are grinding. Is there a way to adjust the lenght of the shifter cable maybe its not pushing the trans all the way into 3rd on downshift...have you heard of anything like this? Id hate to remove the trans just to return it.

When I select 5 gear while driving, it goes in with a slight grind. When I change down to fourth, it does a similar thing. From third to fourth is fine. Do you think it could be due to worn selector cables or a gearbox issue?
@gabratte98585 жыл бұрын
To me slight grinding sounds more like your synchros are starting to go out on your 4th and 5th. So more of an internal transmission problem than cables, buschings, fork etc
@lindsayroberts60175 жыл бұрын
I just thought thought it was strange that 4th and 5th should be worn before 1, 2, or 3.
@gabratte98585 жыл бұрын
Strange yes, but not necessarily uncommon if the previous owner(s) did a lot of high speed pulls, or didnt rev match going from 5th to 4th
