What is the limit of heat this will generate ? You had to stop because the tape melted but I wonder how hot you could have made the block !

I tried a very very rough calculation. It took 450 seconds to heat a 72g copper block from 20°C to 120°C, so it has an output of about 6W. After taking into account heat dissipation, it would reach 300°C in about 30 minutes. The motor output is 200W, so the efficiency is about 3%, which is very inefficient!! However, some industrial induction furnaces are capable of melting metals.
