This video is absolutely useful. My bosch 4100 didn't start one day, so I went out and bought a terrible ridgid last fall. Not near the tool the bosch was. I recently just bought a new switch and it still doesn't come on. I'll tear it down and try to replace the speed control. Thank you so much for putting this video up.

Hi, Christopher. I love my saw as well, just used it yesterday and will be using today. I hope you can get yours running again. Be sure to check all the electrical connections, it's possible to have a loose wire or something..

I have the newer version of this saw: the 4100. What exactly did you do at approximately 6:08 in the video to tilt the motor? I need to access the height adjustment rod and motor slide rods as my blade is frozen in the upright position. I need to disassemble and clean/lubricate the rods. Accessing this area is difficult. Thanks.

Thank you for your video. I have the exactly same problem with my Bosch GTS 10XC. As i know, there are 2 type of wires in the stator: heavy load and light load (small wire and bigger one). The speed governor will start 1 state of starting by small wire to give low power to protect the gears. State 2 will cut off the small wire and turn ON the bigger wire for cutting operation. Tomorrow i will fix as you did. I don't need soft start. It is totally weird! It can caused burned small wires in the stator and completly burn down the motor in smoke. Best regard.

The new Bosch 4000 speed control switch is not working for me. When I pull up the on/off switch, the blade turns 1/4 revolution and stops. The motor works fine hardwired. I cut a 2 x 6 with the speed control disconnected. I'm thinking that as a retired electrician, I will install a 15 Amp breaker between the hot wire of the motor and the hot wire of the line (on/off switch) just to play it safe.

Seems like when I was reading up on fixing my saw, the various online conversations I read, there are a couple of things that might cause the blade to go backwards. I cannot remember it all exactly as it has been years since I researched and read those threads. My repair was just the control board, perhaps yours is a field coil. I don't know. I suggest google search and reading all you can find on this subject.

@camplapidary2 жыл бұрын
Ya know, when it went bad I was trimming just little pieces of wood for my 4x6 trailer. One moment it was fine, and the next cut it wasn't... Old motors with no electronics are reliable beasts, this has soft start and some circuitry in there. Still, it ran for about 20 years before needing repair. I'm just glad the fix worked. I'd hate to have to buy some new saw, especially because I don't really Handyman for Hire anymore.
