I was convinced that this pattern wasn't going to work and viola, it did! A little inside french seam does the trick and makes the whole pattern much easier compared to other ones on FB. My suggestion would be that before stitching the box ends with a 1/8 seam, give each of the two cut sides a narrow seam beforehand, being sure to catch all layers of fabric and batting, backing, etc. Then pin the two sides together and sew, turn and check for skips, and finally finish with the french seam. Love Jan's method and her way of teaching.

This is a fabulous pattern and tutorial. I just made a couple of changes. I used the iron on interfacing on both the outside and lining fabric. I cut it about 1/2 to 1/4 inch smaller to reduce bulk at the seams. The biggest difference was using my walking foot for the whole item. Believe me it’s a change maker! lol. Will be making lots of these bags in the future. I also used a 5 zip without problems. Thank you Jan

Great tutorial & especially for hiding the inside seams. I added the iron on laminate to the lining so the inside is wipeable. Just iron it so that about 1/8 to 1/16th of an inch is captured in the seam so you have less bulk when sewing. Great Christmas gifts, thanks!!
