You are exactly right about people not seeing colors the same way. All salons need the hair color samples like you have in your book. Many years ago all the salons had those. I don’t know about now. The darker color absolutely did look good/better on her than her starting yellow.

I liked what she accidently did you her hair. It was slightly dull, but because she colored it twice with the dark ash blonde, it gave her a nice ash blonde that isn't super dark.

I see what you mean about a possible green tint, but overall I love her end result compared to her beginning. The finished hair looks much better with her skin tone. I hope she sees your video, so she can realize what she actually did wrong.

I used to have a friend who was obsessed with black hair and would always talk about my black hair. I reminded him a few times that I actually have dark brown hair with some medium brown and even light brown natural highlights. Not black. 😂

I can relate to that. I've come across so many people who said I've black hair (and even black eyes) and it's far from that. It's what would be called dark brown in most things (like color pencils or clothes), but when it comes to hair colour it's just a medium brown.

First mistake was she didn't look at the instructions. The cap is on backwards. Second mistake is she Didn't tie it. Third mistake is she took it off. And on and on. She lucked out because of how thick and curly her hair is.

I love your explanation of how going to a salon is more expensive than DIY. We are paying skilled people. We aren’t paying for the products used. It’s also great advice to not be scammed by bad salons.

I always thought my natural color was muddy light to middle-brown till my stylist told me - "no, that's actually a dark ash blond." 😳Everyone I knew saw me as a brunette. So, always look-up the sample before you color your hair. Most likely you must choose one or even two levels lighter than expected. Especially ashy colors look darker at the same level than warm colors because of how they reflect (or rather DON'T reflect) light. I think she looks better with darker hair- I would tone it with a warmer color to get rid of the greenish tint. And a trim + treatment to bring back the shine.

Hair Buddha...totally agree with the price situation. I've noticed in the past year some of the products I use have increased by 40% in the salon. I have had several new customers who have been elsewhere and had a horrendous hack of a cut at a cheap price.....then they have come to me for a proper haircut ...yes it may take more time and cost more but hey you get what you pay for....IT'S THE CUT AND PROFESSIONALISM THAT COUNTS😁

Agree! I pay 125.00 just for my hair cut. However, my stylist is so good that my cut lasts over 4 months looking great and then 2 months a bit shaggy. I can get my hair cut just 2x a year if I want to or 3 x if I'm good to myself. I end up paying less by paying more imo.

This colour is waaaaay better for her, watching your videos has shown me that my natural colour suits me way more than a bleach blonde. I’m naturally a dirty blonde. Always enjoy watching these videos, and as a hairstylist myself I often have the exact reactions as you! lol I also like the color a little deeper on her. It's too bad about the ash, a lot of people don't understand when ash is supposed to be used, or that ash actually is a green base(which is used to cut/cancel out red tones). At least she didn't try to throw highlights on her roots as well! Thanks for sharing.

My father has dark blond hair but no one would describe his hair as being blond, it's that dark. He had almost white blond hair as a kid and then it turned really dark as he got older.

I have used a cap on my hair and it always turned out really well. However i didnt put the bleach too close to the scalp and left a bit of root because i don't want any bleeding.

The darker color looks better with her skin tone. People should understand that just because they watch someone do their hair, that doesn't mean they know how to do hair by default. It would be like my profession, someone coming in complex wound care, then deciding they want to save a few bucks, and going home assuming they can do it themselves because they've seen it before. In the end, they skipped the sterile technique (leading to new infection), forgot to apply medications, and didn't seal the wound properly, so now the wound vac machine won't stop screeching, and now you have to call the wound nurse to come fix it... which is going cost you more money, So, moral of the story, if it involves professional care/services, whether it is a hairdresser, barber, doctor, nurse, or whatever... leave it to the professionals!
