These are the very first steps to putting up walls in my Beetlejuice Dollhouse! I only get through a few walls, however I hope this video works as a great example of how I am doing the rest of the house build. Then I can do the rest of the boring building off camera😄 If you are planning to DIY a dollhouse some of these tips may be helpful! And I feel like the magnet walls turned out to be magic!

I’m building a miniature townhouse with magnetic detachable walls using foam core as well. However, because all the walls, floor base, stairway, and ceiling are detachable, I find that I need to be very creative and put in extra details to deal with issues such as stability of interior walls, ceiling lights, kitchen lights under stairway, foam core wrapping after applying paint, structural stability, etc. I like your idea of combining permanent and removable walls, and I have already learned something new with this video. Can’t wait to see your progress!

This is AMAZING! I'm just getting around to attempting my first build, which is a far far simpler a floor plan than this one. It gives me hope, seeing you work, that if I am patient and take care, I might be able to create something that looks good and will not fall apart if I sneeze in its direction. I actually LOVE all these construction videos. Even if, as you say, there's nothing "pretty" to look at just yet, the "good bones" are SO IMPORTANT. If our work does not have a strong foundation, all our efforts will be wasted. I SO appreciate you teaching us how to construct a good strong building that we can then make beautiful (or ghastly! Or ghastly beautiful!) to our heart's content. Yours is my favorite KZbin channel ever. Thank you so much!

Hi Ara, I have had a lot of laughs this morning watching you ponder about how you were going to start the Beetlejuice house. I thought yay I am not the only one. The thing is, it hasn’t just been a few hours or days trying to make a start from scratch, building my little shack, but about 7 months. Aghhhhhhhh. And it comes back to what walls I need to remove. Ponder, ponder. I was watching Laura from Tinyview and asked her how to do the magnetic wall, which she had not shown on her video. She said try Ara from Bentley House. Then I was looking at Penny from Little by Little Dollhouse Minis and she was explaining how to do a magnetic wall and said she had help from you and to watch the Beetlejuice House. So here I am starting day one of the Beetlejuice house. This is one of your videos I have not watched as I had never seen the movie and didn’t think it would mean much to me. So thank you very much for showing how to do the magnetic walls. Maybe I can now make a start. I said “maybe”. You’re the best. Cheers Robyn ❤😊

Just thought I'd chime in to say I'm good seeing you make/film this in whatever way is easiest for you to make/film it! Lord knows this kind of stuff (especially experimenting with new techniques!) is hard enough, no need to make it harder on yourself. When it comes to construction, I'm okay with you showing just new/'complicated techniques, but I want to see all the decorating, just because that's my favourite part! But again, do whatever you would like, I'm really okay with whatever content you'd like to share. I understand the whole "procrastinating because you're nervous about a new thing and not sure how it will go" thing, boy do I ever. But think of it like this, you aren't procrastinating, you're just doing side quests!

I am soooo glad you made this video. I am making a Grimmauld Place Mini House and I was wondering how to add removeable walls instead of hinges all over the place. You and your videos inspire the hell out of me.

This is looking great, love your Beetlejuice figure, and I can't wait to see this house finished, maybe in a very distant future you could make the "Inferno Room" disco he goes to , its so funny looking! Thank you for making this! :) I can't wait to use your techniques in my future stop motion videos.

I’m so excited to follow along on your journey to create this house from scratch! It doesn’t hurt that I love the movie😉. Really liked that you mentioned the ugly stage, it something I’ve only recently realized happens to all art 😊. I’m loving the magnet idea!!!! Can’t wait to see what comes next 💚

Yes the ugly stage happens everywhere. And sometimes we get stuck comparing our ugly stage to other artists finished work and its never a fair comparison!

Finally got to finish this great video..This is all so exciting!!! I just love how your mind works Ara...the magnet walls!! I have been skipping around through several of your videos at a time for various projects..and I'll admit been watching this project out of order, so I'm trying to catch up on all this excitement! I really like watching you build a room and get as much work done to the interior as you can before moving to the next, I think it breaks up from all the construction, getting to some of the fun stuff! 💕🥰

You could've built a thin plexi inner wall (for structure) for the ones that were going to be removable so that you can remove just the magnetized outer foam wall when you need to see in. The inner clear wall could also have its own magnet connections, if you need to reach in or something.

Oooooh I miss Texas storms... any storms...we don't get storms up here. Just this weird bipolar rain. Spotty and all over place. And wind... lots of wind. Lol...I have my committed thundering CD we play at night. Not missing thunder... not at all. Lol I'm so excited to see this.... such friggin cool idea with the magnets :) this is looking Awesome. Yes...I think the room by room method is a good idea. Thanks again Ara GrInS :)

They can be so cool!! I prefer them during the day where I don't have to go anywhere... when they are at night I can't sleep through them at all. My family however has no problem sleeping through them lol!
