I like your choice of a PAPR for your respiratory protection. In the US, the PAPR is in common use for respiratory protection while removing asbestos and lead paint. I have seen few positive air pressure respirators in use for boat work on KZbin. The commonly seen paper or rubber half mask negative pressure respirators are far less protective against airborne dusts. The PAPR requires battery changes for the air pump, but is less hot and sweaty and far more comfortable than the negative pressure respirators relying on respiration to move air through the filters. SCBA using tanks of compressed air are more protective, but require a lot of tank changes and are awkward. Airline respirators are protective, but that hose also gets in the way. Air purifying respirators using cartridges are OK for protection against particulates, but can have a short effective use time before break through for protection against gases and vapors. SCBA and air line respirators are preferred for protection against work site toxic gases.

Yeah i do like using the positive air system but it’s clunky and cumbersome to work in for long periods

Andy, we do pray for Melissa's Mother and are hoping she's not in terrible pain. This episode is the most inspiring project on Utube Sailing. Here in the States, Thanksgiving Day is upon us in 2024. The wife is in Florida, her family home was disturbed by Hurricane's this fall. I'm cooking for our Family celebration, nothing as creative as your project by any stretch of the imagination. Truly remarkable the inspiration you have always given us, Jack will be thrilled with the new desk and space to create himself. Thank you Andy, amazing just doesn't quite express your handiwork.

My goodness Andy, your woodworking skills are coming on in leaps and bounds!! That desk & cubby for the washing machine look ( dare I say it??!!) utterly professional & I’m sure Jack will love his private workspace! Sailing in 40Knts? Go for it! For Ocean Melody I’d go with a reefed mizzen & storm jib - only proviso being that you experiment in the Solent, much smaller seas to contend with. I even think Jack & Melissa would enjoy it too!! Back in a different life myself & only the skipper delivered a 75’ ketch from Falmouth to Southampton in what became a close reach slay ride from Start Point to the Needles, wind averaging 40Knts with gusts of 58. We considered pulling in to Weymouth but it was too dangerous… Terrific fun though & most definitely never forgotten!!

Wow, that bench is a piece of art, Andy! Congratulations. I wish I have your woodworking skills. Jack's aft cabin will look great, which is the less we can expect for a Captain's cabin, isn't it? My only concern is about the mold under the top/ceiling panels. It's a great idea to remove them all, bleach and add a layer of fresh painting to the fiberglass before reinstalling the panels. Keep up with the good/great/amazing work!

great work looks fantastic maybe a small wooden handel on the washing machine door which could be held in place with magnetic fasteners to stop vibrating when the engine is running, The desk will need some lighting and maybe a phone charging outlet but I am sure this will all come in due course. long episode great .

Excellent work and reuse of materials! It might be too costly, but it would be nice to have a compass or electronic navigation display (repeater?) in the cabin when it is all buttoned up. See what's happening outside.

Andy amazing workmanship. You're a man of many trades. Well I guess you need to be living on a sailboat as your home. Jack's a lucky young man to have you doing all this for him. Hope Melissa's father is on the mend. Looking forward to next video.

Gotta love the dramatic soundtrack but pen holders? Might rethink that one. Bit risky on a boat, no? A desktop enclosure would be sweet tho. 🤔 High complements on repurposing materials 👍🏻👍🏻

I actually enjoyed the longer episode. So many channels do short format episodes so it’s quite nice to put something longer on that I can watch without having to look for something new after 15 minutes.
