Excellent video! Well done! I like the gutter idea for the rollers as I too have a gravel work area. The only difference in my project will be to remove the gear boxes and utilize a central "Y" design for a single ACME rod with the drive mechanism from the front or rear of the vehicle instead of the side where yours is positioned and I will be using this for my Smart For Two

The unf screws wouldn’t work for long anyway, they are not designed to screw/unscrew often without wear since they have non square (pointed, sharp) thread. The acme rod has a square thread and doesn’t wear when the acme nut is moving on it.

I made, same swing type lifter for the scooter, few years ago. It locate under of the center stand, which is locked its lower position by bar. I rocking scooter side to side by hand and when nearest leg is up, I turn wooden block under it by leg and so on, few times. When both side is level, scooter swing like your car, its one end up to repair. It`s slow to use and little bit risky to use, but enough usable to stay in my garage. It`s only lifter which I can take on the scooter, for to do lift in other place. When I have to remove the engine, the center stand goes with it. So I did, two two-legged rope hoists. I attached two ropes to the winch spool and two pulleys to extend the positions of the ropes, to ensure a stable lift. It lifts optionally in three places: the front, mittle or rear of the scooter. When it lifted at the mittle, it swing. Its two leg frames look like a guillotine and the vinch is on top of it. The frame design is space saver. Other 3-rope lifter was attached to the seiling and use one vinch. It was too stationary to use for me. I made some experiment for rocking table (legs of two pair turned freely down when other end lifted by muscles) to lift scooter, but it did`n got air under its wings...

The pivot lol that's fucking genius. But how do you work out the balance? I actually hate jacking up my car. I've a 3.5 tonne jack, pads and all. Yet because you're one corner at a time I always feel it's just unhealthy pressure on the chassis. I'm curious how to make a drive over level lifter for at least either end. Ideally it would be all 4 corners but I'll either get a second jack or come up with something. But I'd at least like to be able to jack the front or rear level on both sides. I've been there too many times where the ground isn't smooth so the jack doesn't rise and pull the car away from the axle stand. I picture driving the front or rear wheels on and then gears rising or pumping jacks so they're balanced.
@VinyB57 Жыл бұрын
Each car has it s own position with the jack and once you found it, since the gravity center is right on top in the "flat" position, ince you pivot it ine side it slips to this side...quite simple

@VinyB574 жыл бұрын
For the first design, yes one of the major issue was the jamming screw, but also, having only a 2:1 reduction with sprockets and chains was to hard on the HP of my 1/2'' chuck drill (Dewalt). Now it's much better with the worm gearbox 5:1 ratio and the '''driving shaft'' between both gearboxes, no more chains!
@mmikapn4 жыл бұрын
I have just realised that i have 1kw motor with 20:1 ratio gearbox and a sprocket for 3/8 chain already on it. I think it is marked 10b-1 that should be more than enough to power my lift. I'll try to upload a video of a finished build. When i finish it. 🤣
@mmikapn4 жыл бұрын
The chain, as I plan, will be placed instead of a screw in Your design. The force distribution is the same, of course diferent design, similar to quick jack models. I practically plan to use your design to lift one side of the parallelogram. I need free floor between two sides of the lift. It will be secured with a support bar on both sides and i trust my welds since i am a certified welder.

@VinyB574 жыл бұрын

@@manofsan Yes, my tip here is to weld a rachet box on the lift, one that you have in extra and use the squarre as an adaptor. Hi Lyndon, 2 things, first: it was too hard for the drill, the sprocket reduction of 1:2 was not enough, the drill was smoking after only few seconds, secondo, it felt weak. The shafts were bending has the chain was pulling on the sprockects from both sides. Just a bad design, but maybe with bigger shafts (at leats ø1'') and good reduction (at least 1:5) that could work. But thing how big the sprocket will need to be to get the reduction, that's why I went with the worm gearboxes.

Do u still use this lift if so how are u finding it ?
@VinyB572 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm using it all the time. The only down side is the time of setting, which is almost nothing, 5-10 min at the most. So for a quick job, like an oil, I won't use it, but for bigger jobs, it's a must!

Can you please tell us the specs of suitable worm gear for this application?
@VinyB574 жыл бұрын
Yes sure! I used a 5:1 worm gear. The worm gears need to have pretty straight theeth so it will ''lock'' in place the screw. If you can easely turn the output shaft of the gearbox, you'll know that the gears have to much angle. If you combine the angle of the screw with the gears angles, that will keep the jack ',safely'' in position to put your jack stand underneath the car. I'm hopping that will help you!

@@VinyB57 Many thanks for your quick response; much appreciated. However, since I am a novice in this game, can you tell me information like the torque capacity or HP,, RPM etc. that would help me to select the right worm gear? Thanks again!
@VinyB574 жыл бұрын
Hi Zach, yes, the spec for the gearboxes are: ratio: 5:1, RPM 1750, input HP:1.248, output HP:1.158, torque:209lbf*in. And they held on very well for the past years. So if you keep it in these specs you should be good! Also, the RPM are generated from my drill (obviusly), witch is 900rpm, not 1750.

If you don't count the steel that I had in hand, around 300$, and I had a really good deal on the gearboxes 100$ for both. It took me about 3 months to built, during spare times, when the kids are asleep and the wife finaly unleash you 😅

@VinyB572 жыл бұрын
@@drewrinker2071 Ah ok! First I'm not selling the plans, for safety purposes and second, the price will greatly depend on the price of the gearboxes, I paid mine 100$ for used one but I was very lucky to find them. The rest is acme rods (around 50$) and pieces of steel laying around in the shop. So to me it was about 200$

@@VinyB57the ok thanks. And yes I agree the design itself does not seem that safe but with the additional jack stands that you're using I think that would very much make it safer. My work thows gearboxes out all the time. So it's just mostly the metal

Thought I'd check back to see if the PDF issue has been resolved. It has not. This might be a reason you are stuck at 1800 subscribers instead of building a viable online business. Its a pity cause its a great build but seems to be a lot of trouble for all involved

Steve, it's a PDF, get over it! For some it works, for other it doesn't. I'm doing youtube videos for fun, to share my projects and inspire people to get in their shop and build something! I increase my average of subscription every single month...so stuck...don't think so, you should do your math. @VinyB574 жыл бұрын
hi Tim, these are 1/4'' or 6mm rubber pads that I had laying around in my shop. The sharpness of the bottom joint from the cars (where the lift is pushing up againts the car) are now destroying them slowly...as long as you have something to prevent paint removing / and the car from slidding down the lift..😅

This is reminiscent of how thugs steal wheels off cars in American cities. They place milk crates under the rockers in the middle of the car, then tilt off of each axle to get the raised wheels. Then they leave the front bumper on the ground, with all of the weight of the car on it...
