So awesome you figured this out!! I was asking another channel if they could make an elevator that could be used in multiple scenes, apartments, office buildings, hospitals. I was thinking of the multiple sets of doors for the elevator car itself and the doors to the elevator shaft to hold multiple people, it one in a really poofy dress. But this actually works!!

I made it the same as the roof on the main house, but with straight ends. The roof is 7" long and 7.75" wide and 1" tall. I made out of the 7"x16" rectangle piece. I folded into a box... then sealed the ends with brown paper.

Hey Maria, I used roughly a full bag of 4" long full-size glue sticks on the 2019 dreamhouse.... I think it was a 25 or 30 count. On the 2021 dreamhouse, I used a full bottle of white glue. I was pretty generous with the glue.... you could probably get it to work with less. Good Luck! 😀

Hi Mate I have installed everything as per the instructions even the motor but my elevator does not pull up. My suspicion is the counter weight height. Is there a way in which you could share a detailed plan. Please help my daughter is exhausted from waiting on me to finish.

LOL😀 That very well could be the issue. I also had problems with the string slipping on the pully at first, but the sandpaper seem to sort that out.

Thanks! glad you liked it. The counter weights are kind of important. They basically let you use a very small motor to move the elevator. Without them you might need a bigger motor. It would greatly simplify it if you did eliminate them..... you could put a single shaft on the top and simply wind the string around the shaft...... maybe I will play around with a second design to show that. You can use anything heavy for counter weights.... I first used a larger washer and nut that I had laying around.... only used the fishing weights because the looked better 😀

These are the motors amzn.to/3siM8mm There are all kinds of different gear ratios and RPMs and configurations. The ones I got were single shaft, 1:48 gear ratio, and 95 rpm @3V. I used 3 AA batteries (4.5V) which kept the speed relatively slow. Hope that helps 😁

You should make the elevator biggest for Barbie on wheelchair. If you notice, you'll see the elevator has space for 4 dolls, I think you made this house as a proof. Everything else is perfect

That would be super cool! I do not have a wheelchair to measure. The elevator I made was a little over 4" wide and 5" deep... But I have room to make bigger 😊. The kids have stuffed a ton of dolls in that space and the motor was still able to lift. I wish I had a Barbie wheelchair, I would have made sure that would fit as well.

This is so very cool. I wish I had seen this before I started my dollhouse from wood. What voltage is your motor? I noticed 3 AAA batteries so I am thinking 6v.

Hey Kim, the motors I used were 1:48 gear ratio, and 95 rpm @3V. Like you noticed, I used 3 AA batteries (4.5V) which kept the speed relatively slow. On the garage, I used only 2 batteries (3V) to make the garage door even slower. Hope that helps 😁
