It took me three tries. My problem-I couldn’t get rid of the line between the carpet and patch. I finally took some clear tape (the kind you wrap packages with) and lightly taped the pile back on the main carpet. Once the patch was in place, I picked the edges so none of the pile on the patch got bent. When I took the tape off they blended right together. Whew! Thanks for your tips!!

Very happy I saved the remnants from the new carpet I had installed just three months ago. New cat got locked in a room and decided to rip a hole under the door. Any suggestions for working along an edge? I assume only glue the sides that touch installed carpet...? Thanks for the video!
@carpetguy3 жыл бұрын
If you’re the same one who messaged me, yes. I would use my power stretcher which can be rented at Home Depot but presents another host of issues you’d need to be familiarized. If you get a good cut on both sides for the seam and glue it at the backing, I recommend letting it sit and dry before tapping back on the tack strip and ticking back in. This repair video is mainly designed for repairs under 6”. Techniques from it can be used on larger repairs or along door jambs and tile/hardwood to carpet transitions but are lacking on additional tools and techniques a pro would use to get it done better. Hope it works out well enough for you!

Yes for any side touching the existing carpet and for the side(s) going to the wall, cut a bit extra and tuck under baseboard if there’s a gap and tap the carpet on the sharp pins.

I have a carpet problem but it is in my Toyota Sienna Mini Van. Previous owner evidently spilled a drink or something and it ate away the pile of the carpet. The affected area is located along the outside edge of the car about 40" long and at the widest place 5" wide. I will have to find a donor carpet. Maybe at a wrecking yard or Pull n Save? Of course I don't want to buy a whole lot of carpet just to replace a small area. Any recommendations? Thanks for the instructional video. Very helpful!

Do you have any hints for this procedure with a 10 year old "carpet master Prancer", its the carpet that is several colors, low to ground. Its in a small rental. 3 separate cigarette burns. Also could not tell...do you leave the very bottem of the the carpet where the fibers attach in place and only remove the fiber or do you go down to the padding?
@carpetguy3 жыл бұрын
You might be able to individually glue all the colors in place after you scrape out the black burned parts. I show how to cut the entire carpet out on this video and use as a template over your donor area. I’d recommend cutting multiple donor pieces for each and dry test to see which looks better color/fiber before flying in place 👍🏼

Does that same amount of glue work if you’re looking at larger areas of animal damage? I’ve got a couple areas that are more like a foot long and half a foot wide. (Big dog) or with a larger area should I be concerned with things like staples or additional floor tacking?
@carpetguy3 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend the method shown in this video for damage exceeding 6”. It’s much more difficult to achieve good aesthetic results. You need more tools and different seam tape as well as the ability to stretch the patch a bit. Would seek a professional, but if you can’t, I’d recommend looking up Gold Coast flooring and carpet muscle tv on here to get more ideas and tools you can use to fix larger areas. 👍🏼✌🏼
