You bashing a hole in the drywall with the hammer reminded me of when a friend brought round his son with his bike. The bike had modern tyres etc, my mate told me he had spent 3 hours mending a puncture on this bike. The bike had QR wheels which enabled very quick taking out and replacing of wheels as developed in the bike racing world. I decided he couldn't have known how to mend the puncture very quickly. I got a bradawl and on my bike pushed the bradawl into the perfectly good front tyre, did the correct wheel removal, took out the inner tube, put good one in, reassembled the wheel and put it back. Maybe 10 minutes at most, not quick for racing but adequate for leisure riding. Found the puncture the old tube and repaired it with a patch. I asked why it took him so long?? He had completely disassembled the QR spindle assembly, had a terrible job getting it back together properly. Had 3 goes at mending the puncture and it took forever to get the wheel in properly! About 6 months after, I recalled the incident to see if he could tell me why it took him so long, he said he couldn't remember. "Did you remember me puncturing my tyre with the bradawl", I asked, "no he re[lied". I was amazed how he had completely forgotten, his son later told me his memory on those sorts of things were severely lacking!!! Your puncturing the dry wall gave me a chuckle, thanks!!!

You have me in tears! I just bought my first home a year ago and it is an old house. I am single mother and have only my income to provide for me and my son, so every penny counts! I had someone coming in to fix a small role in the dry wall and was quoted $100 for the service. I know maybe does not seems a lot but for me it is. So I came to youtube to find how to fix it and I found your channel. I have most of the material at home (as I have been doing some reno) and after watching your video I am sure I can do it myself, as I have done so many other small fixings around the house. It will save me a lot of money! Money that I don't have and that I would have to take from groceries to pay the contractor. Thank you so much! I cant express how much I appreciate you taking the time to teach us all this tricks. It is a life saving!! God bless you!

No one wants to do it because in your mind what he did is worth less then 10 dollars because it took him less then 10 min. But most people forget, he not only had to gather up all the tools and supplies, he had to wash them too, which takes an hour. so that small hole you made, is about 50-100 dollar job. Really hard to convince people of this and not worth the headache and time to do so. It is best to not ask and do it yourself. It's really an easy job.

yeah tried that trick in a room. problem was the textured ceiling wasn't that well adhered to the ceiling and a 50 lb sheet of sheet rock came down along with the textured ceiling. one way to get textured ceiling off the ceiling! fortunately no one was in the room when it happened but it scared the ba-jeebers out of my wife and me! will spend hours & hours scraping and breathing the dust and clean up the blooming mess before I try that "trick" again.

I'm a taper on commercial sites. I've used expanding in multiple situations where other tapers didn't know what to do. . I'm the guy the foreman goes to when a non-standard taping situation comes up. Consequently I'm also usually the last taper on a site. These little tricks are a good way of staying employed.

I am going to do some small drywall repairs and learned a great deal from watching your video. I thank you very much and will use the information to repair small holes. I need to install a bathroom fan and need to remove some drywall. I will look at your videos and see what works the best. Thank you again.

Over the past two years, I've completely gutted and remodeled a bathroom, a gym, and combined two big storage closets into an office, and fixed a sagging ceiling -- and I have Jeff to thank for lots of the knowledge. Of course now I see drywall problems in other parts of my house and I can't unsee them. This video had a few techniques that I hadn't seen before -- the drywall to drywall laminating screws, the drywall sweep material (OMG this would have been great to have!), and using foam in the big cracks.

Tip :).. when you are cutting out the damage from a hole. Find the piece you want to use as a patch. Hold the patch piece flat on the wall covering the hole and trace it's outine with your pencil. Now cut out the damaged drywall following those lines. You have a hole ready made for your patch.. Good content!! Thanks!

But at least I have one now so I can always sleep knowing I can check that the shower and tub connections and drain are not only dry, but easy to access and fix! THANK YOU!!!!!

I work in hardware. I learn more from you than I do in any of the silly courses that companies offer. Also, because of you, I've managed to get a number of tiny little side hustles that pay for the tools that I need to make the next side hustle easier. On this very day, some lady paid me $50 to patch a large-ish hole in her drywall. Wish I'd known about California patches. You can, on your deathbed, reflect upon the fact that you've made people's lives better. +1 points for you. Thank you.

Brilliant! Great tips. I use a shower squeegee for my final coat on large surfaces. Any hard chips it just skips over and doesn’t drag a line through the plaster. The first coat of primer I stipple with a wet sponge. That keeps the area from flashing on the final paint coat. 30+ years of repairs and remodels on my properties. Thank you for the new tips!

I just redid the walls in a room from the ground up: drywalling, electrical, mudding, painting, etc. Looks fantastic. I'm a software developer who just enjoys DIY and started watching your stuff a little over a year ago, but ever since I've been getting requests from people who want to do home renovation. The more I do, the better I get, and the more the requests keep coming. I'm sticking with software, but damn it feels good to build high quality, enviable stuff with my hands. Also: being able to do this kind of stuff is great for the marriage. :) Keep it coming, brother.

Excellent video. Thank you , thank you, thank you. You just made my day by removing all the stress I had about the drywall repairs in my bathroom sink and cabinet replacement. You have a great personality and a very effective way to demythify the fear of working with drywall. I have never worked with drywall other than filling a nail hole. Now I feel confident I can repair the damage caused by the removing of the backsplasher of my bathroom. You made everything looks so easy to do. I know for a fact that making something look easy to do, is very difficult to accomplish. You have the experience and the knowledge required to do that. Congratulations. Best regards. Thank you, again, from my heart.
