This is so gorgeous from the gorgeous pine (it looked great staining but I love the natural ;)) to the cleaning and restoration of the gutter, the metal work was fun to watch. The beauty of the hardwood sleepers and the stone covering for the pipes... turned out perfect!!! I love these projects just like I love all your other fantastic builds. Still my favorite will always be the chicken coop lol. I love garden builds, outdoor improvements, I could watch hours and hours of it!!!

Ha, finally! I have been waiting for this one rather impatiently. Relax, I know that shooting the video is not even half the work, editing is ... let's not go there. When you announced this project I was sceptical, I freely admit that. "What on earth is he doing? It's a carport!" was what I thought. We lived with it for years (even though I never liked it) but when the conduits were recently installed on there, I had to do something about it. :)

Your attention to detail is consistently inspiring. It helps me to 'stick to it' to the end and not cut corners when nearing completion of my own projects. I think my favorite spot, though, is where you were standing on the grate to pound away the edges and the whole thing was dancing across the floor with you on it - made me chuckle. Otherwise, I tend pick up unsuspecting little tips and tricks like washing stones in a milk crate.

Great little project, had to laugh at the armoury of drills for the sleepers. 1. Glad you repainted the face of the house, I could imagine the rust stains from all the cutting and grinding. 2. Movement is the enemy of the grid, a bed of grout would have been good. Hopefully when you flashed it up at the end, plenty of mortar got pressed under the edges to help support the steels. Loving the channel!

You took the grating from an industrial galvanised design, which did need some restoration, to a heavy duty native timber design, both of which I think are great designs. You make your environment better and I enjoy seeing it.

Neil you have 5000% more ambition than I do...the "gutter" fix alone would have done me in. RIP old cheap welder - that bit was clever and made me laugh but I know a bit bittersweet when a well-deserved tool bites the dust. But you did get a new welder 😂

Good luck with the jasmine! We had a jasmine wall at a previous house and it was so good. We live about 30 minutes from you and just haven't had luck with jasmine since, probably our crap yard soil. You've got the right idea feeding the garden bed. Grow good soil and healthy plants are just a natural side effect.

From a distance, the wooden sleepers over that ugly metal grate is the biggest difference. You could also hang a long planter under the lattice across the top and grow something like morning glorys, while waiting for the jasmin to grow.

Neal this project is a Honey Do winner for sure. The culvert redo is very eye pleasing and structurally solid. The steel lattice will look so nice once the greenery climbs thru. You should look into a positive airflow welding helmet to protect you. I know they're ery expensive.

the hardwood looks really good. I've seen some people finishing it with the same oil that is used on the railways, and it waterproofs the boards. I live in tropics, and I pretty much have to soak every outdoor wood in oil. sometimes I use a synthetic car engine oil, which I accumulate from the car servicing leftovers.

Another awesome build. I like watching things like this on your channel too because it’s practical and beautiful in the same way a piece of furniture is or a shop upgrade. Hopefully you continue to post videos like these. By the way, you have many of the necessary tools and skill sets to get into GFRC. I would highly recommend you try it. I was going to recommend GFRC for the patched concrete because it’s much more dense than regular concrete because the aggregate particles are much smaller, and yet the glass fibers and polymer additives make it equally strong. You should try it out. I think GFRC pieces make beautiful additions to furniture pieces, like tops and drawer faces, even full vanities with shelf spaces, sinks and countertops all in a single unified shape.
