First of all, since I’ve been sewing for more than 50 years and don’t do wood, let me congratulate you on your choice of a sewing machine! That’s a terrific machine, and it will run for you forever. Having a machine with no computer is a HUGE bonus! I have two that are like yours (because we’re snowbirds and spend our winters where it’s warm so I need one in each place) and I LOVE them! Some of my friends who sew have really expensive machines with a million bells and whistles … and they don’t use any of them. 🙄 The thread you used looks like Serger thread, so if you find it breaks or balls up or whatever, it’s not the machine. 🧵 Your pillow-stuffing technique was perfect. You could put a little velcro in the opening if you find you want it all the way closed, but you did an excellent job! 🤗🎉😁 Great result with the kitty condo! So proud of you for trying so many new things! You killed it! 👍🏼😁👍🏼

I agree about non computerized sewing machines. I have three different machines. One from the 1930s, an old 70s Sears Kenmore and a 70s Montgomery Ward Signature. All of them are work horses that need minimal servicing. I wouldn't trade them for a modern machine ever.

Im a vintage machine mechanic, and i second this! Excellent machine. Use only sewing machine oil or triflow, and life will be good forever.

I love how you used the white trim around the color blocks. It makes it more dimensional, and sets off the colors better, than the colors next to each other. It may not have been in your plan, but it was an excellent decision.

A highly complex but aesthetically pleasing project. You clearly have an eye for the 1950s look and, having lived through that era, I can tell you that you've hit it spot on. Leaving the large white area at the top is perfect for the look with the box of plants sitting on top of the cabinet. It's also good to see Willow and Nacho right at home with their new condo. Angie - another winning project! And great job sewing. In June, I was on a church trip to Uganda and worked with 6 women learning to use treadle sewing machines to make reusable menstrual pads to earn a living. No electricity so we also provided headlamps to sew after dark. Life offers so many possibilities as you always demonstrate with rescuing furniture. Obviously, cat approved, too.

When I first saw the video title, I read "MGM" instead of MCM and I immediately pictured the MGM lion logo but with a cat, sort of like Mary Tyler Moore did with her MTM production company logo. Very nice job! Your tip for overlapping to get a perfect fit around minute marker 13:50 is also the perfect method for wallpaper. Overlap both, cut down the middle of both overlapped pieces, now you have a perfectly hidden seam. Just don’t forget to pull out the now cut away slice from the bottom piece. :-) You did a nice job explaining that

PS., Your sewing was just fine! I’m a better designer/seamstress than woodworker, but they really are complimentary skills bc you use the same puzzle solving ability to construct/deconstruct any object. (I found myself going “noooooo” as you cut into the cushion fabric 😂). But those kitty bed covers are fine without a zipper, plus fleece doesn’t fray or unravel so it won’t get sloppy when you remove it for laundering. I have the same need to do/finish a project correctly, even if no one will ever see it, so I get it! And I’m glad that you remind people to recycle, upcycle, buy from Goodwill and dollar stores -and to use unconventional things like a throw blanket as fabric, and a chair cushion for the bed padding. It’s not only economical, it’s that we waste so much & fill up landfills unnecessarily. Every bit makes a difference!😊❤️

WOW! This is amazing! I mean, all your work is but with this it wasn’t as clear to me where you were going and I’m so glad for that because you took this “trash” and made the most amazing treasure! Nacho loves it so much you even got slow blinks! I can’t thank you enough for explaining what you do, why you do it and about wood in general. I had no idea how veneers worked to sandwich wood to protect it. And thank you for changing my perception of veneers in general. I used to be guilty of thinking it was somehow subpar. An amazing condo for the boys! If I might suggest that a small window be added in that white panel where the plants would be... maybe a window with a little (thinner than what you had built) planter box in front so that whomever is sleeping on that shelf can get a small peek as to what's around them. You could even put curtains up if you wanted. 😅

I know I'm late to this - but I was thinking of a window with a planter box that you could put wheat grass in for them to nibble on. Good for the cats, adds greenery, and lets you see inside if needed!

As always, an amazing transformation! Nacho looks right at home, and very accepting of your considerable talent and efforts! It's hard to visualize the box attached to the white panel. I do like it on top, and you could possibly hand paint something on the panel. You'll figure it out!

This video makes me think back to my teen years, when I helped my brother-in-law build a playset for my niece and nephew. It was the first time I'd ever picked up a power tool. After a week, I learned I'm great with my hands, and had an incredible experience. I want to build my cat a kitty condo now.

I love the way you saved the heart of the piece and turned it into gorgeous kitty digs. If cats worked and came home after a long day, they'd lay down in their house sipping tunatinis out of tiny cat sized martini glasses. Tunatinis: warm water and juices from a high quality cat tuna wet food. Mine like Applaws Tuna and Crab. Titrate the juice out, add warm water (they prefer these warm. Shaken not stirred). From my two kittehs 8 paws up for this lovingly restored piece for furry family you love.

Very nice. I live in Nova Scotia and have that same dresser. In one of my bedrooms. I don't use it though. That cat tree idea is an interesting one. I would want to put it on it's side though because one of my cats is missin her back paw. She can't jump very high, so while my other cat would think it is great, my other cat wouldn't be able to use all of it. I really like what you did with the dresser.
